Long distance torch in a small package
I got the Sofirn IF22A as I wanted a long distance torch that wasn't too big. The IF22A doesn't disappoint! I've had the light for about a week now and used it on a few evening walks out in the countryside. I have a few torches from Sofirn (and Acebeam, Olight, Lumintop, Convoy, Astrolux...), including ones that are much brighter or have a much greater beam distance. But this Sofirn packs a punch whilst being pocket size. Sofirn lights are considered very good for their price by "flashlight enthusiasts" and the IF22A follows in their tradition. Note that this torch is a focused, long distance light, rather than a very floody one. It still has a bit of flood though. The light comes with a 21700 size battery, which is much bigger than an AA, so provides more power and good run times. it comes with an adaptor to use slightly smaller 18650 batteries too but these are shorter, (like my Sony VTC5A, pictured) so it will only work with button top 18650s (or should work with a small magnet). The light charges with USB-C. This is proper USB-C and works with a C-to-C cable, unlike cheaper torches. The light also works as a power bank and correctly charges my phone with a C-to-C cable. This is the first single cell torch that I've seen do this properly, so nice work from Sofirn. The light has a side switch, which follows the usual click to turn on/off and also allows double click for turbo or hold from off to go into the lowest mode. No need to cycle through annoying strobe modes like on many cheap torches. You can also hold the switch while on and it will ramp up/down brightness. This means you can get the torch to any level you want. On turbo the light pumps out about 6 times as much light as a cheap "zoomie" torch (like the ones that let you use 3 AAA batteries).

Great torch, fun to use.
I’ve had the torch about a week now and generally speaking been impressed. LIGHTING I can’t say for certain if it puts out the full 2100 Lumens on turbo, but it’s certainly very bright. It’s got a very cool white colour and a tight beam profile. The throw is good, although I’m not sure it’s over 600m, however it’s entirely possibly my eyes aren’t good enough to detect it at that distance. The flag pole in my photo is 200m away and was easily illuminated in full darkness (photos don’t do it justice), so I’m confident it would extend further. Along with the tight hit spot, there is quite a lot of flood spill, so it does make the torch more versatile. FEATURES The torch uses the Anduril interface that allows for a variety of options in use. It comes with the standard low/medium/high/turbo options, but the ramping brightness mode is great as it allows for such a range of choices. Having the option to use the torch as a powerbank is a lovely little feature to have included. I’ve not used this feature yet myself so cannot comment on its effectiveness, but I’m sure it would be handy to have in a pinch. WEIGHT AND BUILD QUALITY While relatively lightweight for its size, the IF22A has a reassuring heft to it and feels good in the hand. On the walk where I took the photos attached, I was out for about an hour. At no point did it become a pain to carry, either when in hand or in my pocket. The torch feels well put together and feels very sturdy. It comes packaged with spare o-rings that can be swapped out to maintain waterproofness and that’s a nice touch. The single button is easy to use and feels responsive, although in the dark I sometimes find this a little difficult to find, although that’s probably just nitpicking. OVERALL I’m really pleased with it. I have couple of older model Sofirn’s and the fit and finish has definitely improved over time. The IF22A puts out a lot of light and compares to a number of my more expensive torches form other brands. Sofirn are a company on the up and up with a wide variety options within their range. I have 3 now, I’ll almost certainly get more.

Powerful but it gets hot quickly.
Torch gets hot when on max power and it is very powerful as described. I'm not sure how it will fare during a hot summer. Sadly had to return because it had been used before.

Great thrower
This is a seriously impressive torch for the price, especially if you need a light with a long-range beam. It's a proper "thrower," and the focused hotspot can light up things clearly at a huge distance. The overall design feels solid and well-built; it's got a good weight to it without being too heavy. The functionality is great, with a simple user interface to cycle through the different brightness modes. This gives it decent versatility, whether you need a dim light for walking the path or the full power to see what's at the other end of a field. Battery life is respectable on the medium settings, but as expected, the turbo mode drains it quite quickly. The main reason for knocking off one star is the heat level – on the highest setting, the head of the torch gets very warm after a few minutes. It’s manageable, but definitely noticeable. I've had it out in some heavy rain and its waterproof seals held up perfectly without any issues. All in all, if you're looking for a torch that excels at long-distance illumination, this is a brilliant choice. Sources and related content

Fantastic little torch
Hi, If you don't already know Sofirn is one of the very few capable flashlight manufacturers in the world. The IF22a is one of the latest models and certainly does not dissapoint, Sofirns products are not to be mistaken for the cheap rubbish usually available (often with false claims concerning output etc). The Key points are: Aircraft grade alluminum body, drop resistant, mineral glass lens and water proof - so its built to last! Powered by a 21700 battery - these 3.7 volt batteries are the latest technology and instead of 'AA's' 'C's' 'D's' etc which are 1.5 volt the newer range of 3.7 volt batteries are named after their dimensions, so 21700 means 21mm by 700mm and so forth. The light comes with a high capacity 21700 battery, which can be removed for charging whilst you use a spare or charged inside the light via a USB C input (it can also act as a powerbank). The operation is really simple. One click on/off* There is a lockout mode (to stop it switching on accidently in the your pocket!) You can have either a ramped or stepped increase/decrease in output; ramping means you simply hold the power button and the light ramps/up or down (whichever way you want) from min to max OR pressing and holding the power button cycles through low/med/high. You can swop from ramped to stepped and vice versa by pressing the power button 4 times. A double press of the power button put the light into 'turbo mode' and an addional click takes the light back to where is was. I really like this - for example you might using the light in low mode but want a blast of turbo? then double click, another click takes you back to low (not off). The light also has some pretty neat features such as ATR - which stands for advanced temperature regulation - if the lights gets to hot, which it will after about 2 minutes in turbo mode, it will back off on the power to cool off. The inbuilt circuitry also prevents over discharging the battery and also prevents over charging (really important!). In terms of performance the light has a 'total internal reflector lens' (TIR) A TIR unit centers at the end of a conical reflector. The reflector captures scattered light and focuses it forward. As a result, a round, narrow output that projects for great distances is created and this effect is quite remarkable. In Summary: In you're looking for a campact, built to last, quality product with a long throwing beam you won't go far wrong with this model. If you're in any doubt search for the Sofirn UK facebook page, you can chat/ask other UK sofirn users what they think or even ask the sofirn staff themselves (who are always very helpful!) Last point - I saw a review that mentioned a crack in the lens. There isn't (see picture) its a glue port used as part of the manufacturing process :) Have a look at the video and photographs.

Awesome Product, so many things to like about it.
Product arrived very quickly. Love this torch, serious long throw of light out of it - and it's a slim fit in my hand. Very simple to use and control. The beam is a perfect circle of powerful white light, great for photography also, and it works underwater! The torch doubles up as a power-bank so you can charge your phone or other equipment which is a nifty extra feature. It needs a usb c to usb c cable for that which is not included - good to invest in one of these when buying the torch.

Great value long range torch. Until it stopped working.
Absolutely belting torch with excellent throw, nice UI and on-board USB-C charging. Would totally recommend it, if it wasn't for the fact that after a handful of uses it stopped working. Confirmed battery was charged, tried several other fully charged batteries.

Bright, compact and reaches a long distance.
This light has great build quality, goes a long distance, is USB C rechargeable and fairly compact. At max this thing outputs 2000lm which is the equivalent of 2.5 standard light bulbs. The beam reaches quite far especially considering the small form factor. The Luminus SFT40 LED has a slightly cool tint but isn't overly or noticeably blue and does not have any green in the beam apart from on the lowest level which is very dim. The beam itself looks really nice. The hotspot is quite small and it doesn't have any noticeable artifacts. The UI is very simple and easy to understand. The battery is also used replaceable though it should last a few years. Overall there's not much to complain about. The only thing I Would change is adding an always on indicator LED so it can be easily found in the dark. Would recommend this light to anyone who's looking for a compact easy to use torch with a long beam distance and great battery life.
