Question 1

Do you have these same style casters available in smaller sizes with a smaller top plate also?

Accepted Answer

Hi,thanks for your enquiry. No,we don't have.1.5 inch is the smallest size of antique casters.
Top Plate Size is 1.5inch×1.5inch,you can check the size details in the second picture as well.

Question 2

Do these have to be mounted with the wheels extended beyond the edge of the furniture, or can they be mounted more obscurely? ?

Accepted Answer

Depends on what furniture. I used these casters on a open computer table. I fabricated all the wood by hand. I glued, I believe, four or five 2"x6" boards around 30" in length edge to edge, or 2" to 2". Then I clamped both boards over night with glue. The next day I secured them with some wood screws at the bottom of the boards and recessed them where no one can see them and they won't scratch the user whose legs will be under the table. I did this process about four times until the board become a table. I designed and X type of feet that ran from the boards I processed to the bottom...or the floor. I added one horizontal 2"x6" at the bottom of the crossing X. At the bottom of the horizontal 2"x6". board, is where I installed the casters with four 1/2" screws. I hope I was able to help you. Good luck on your project.

Question 3

How do these work on a rug?

Accepted Answer

They work beautifully on a short pile carpet like mine, but I'd hesitate using them on a shag or heavy, thick carpet where the carpet might get tangled in the wheels. If your only moving the cabinet once in a while to clean they will be fine, I have them on a pair of oak 3 drawer night stands and a 4 drawer dresser with a TV on top and they are very sturdy and don't buckle under the weight even when moved.

Question 4
