My feet were very warm skiing in Vermont this holiday.

High tech low performance
Costly device that do not perform well under minus 20 degrees celcius. Batteries over sized! Mobile app do not always synch properly. Not worth the price.

Snowboard boots, worked great!
Worked great! Only downside is how bulky they are. I used them for my snowboarding boots so it's not such a big deal with the bulk. Does not work so well for ski boots.

Chincy crap. Broke after only about a dozen uses
Chincy crap. Broke after only about a dozen uses. Battery compartment is very tight and plastic is not strong enough so inevitably the cheap plastic breaks and once it does the unit is completely useless. Photos show both sides broken on one unit but the same break appeared in both sides of both units. It is obviously a design flaw. If zero stars were allowed I would use zero.

This is one of the best "powerpacks" available for foot warming
This is one of the best "powerpacks" available for foot warming, although some improvements could be made. I've had a pair of these for several years and am happy with them, despite having to make the occasional fix. It uses AA rechargeable batteries: this is a big plus: I have had multiple units with the "built in battery" fail totally or fail to take a full charge which then requires replacing the whole expensive unit. I would NEVER buy a "built in battery" type due to the demonstrated potential for battery failure. I imagine that this would be an excellent for mountaineers in extreme conditions: use lithium AA's to save weight and carry multiple units. Using eneloop rechargable batteries on setting "2" they are adequate for sub-zero temperatures (for me) and last a whole day at the ski resort. This solution has more power, lasts longer than earlier "built in battery" units I've had. The "on / off / adjustment" switches are excellent: never any accidental movement of the switch. My strong preference is for using extension cables which allow the powerpack to be located in a pants pocket. Using the "built in battery" units mounted on ski boots the power setting is often moved on contact with the ski lift chair. And when mounted on boots the battery housing is exposed and can be damaged. Issues I have with it: it could be more durable. The batteries fit tight can be a challenge to remove. There needs to be an additional cutout to allow pressing out the second battery (there is a cut out to press out the first battery). The metal battery contact on the bottom can come out when removing the batteries, and I had the plastic frame crack in this location: fixed with epoxy. The metal spring clip used to attach to a boot is strong and puts stress on the plastic housing all the time. I see both my units are cracked at the location where the metal spring clip enters the plastic housing. I will cut off the metal clip (weight savings) and fix the crack with epoxy. And, a final note: these are a much better deal cost wise than the "built in battery" types, however, the cost is still ridiculously high, but just because there is little competition.
