Different gauges Question: Can I use this connector if I have 16AWG main wire that I want to do a splice with a 22awg wire?

I think you could do it. I also found it easy to use vise-grips to close the piece. Make sure you hear a "click" when you fold over the top. Good luck. ( I use mine for my train set and connecting wires underneath for my lighting system.

Plastic is more rigid and brittle than other connectors

This is the first time I've purchased these in bulk to save money. The price was right, but the plastic is of an inferior quality to what I have purchased from local hardware: it is rigid and brittle making it more difficult to pry the connector open and a couple of the connectors have cracked with crimping them closed.
