The box and board artwork are great! It comes with the modern version as well as the original Indian version of the game. I love that it comes with wooden cowrie shells for dice! A great choice for someone interested in playing the original version of the game.

The dice are cut strangely and the numbers are incorrect, 2 6s on one of them.

The game box is lovely but came dented so not really giftable. The board had some printing issues, a few small bumps of pulp(?) flaked off the board revealing the white card board surface. I wish the tiger pieces were larger.

The first standout thing about this edition of Pachisi (Parchesi) is the ornately decorated box. It's shiny, with elephants and waves and flowers. It's a big square (ish) box too, because the board inside is a single square piece of wood with subtley different game boards printed on both sides. The pieces come in a small ziplock bag and show a similar aesthetic to the box and game board. It all ties together visually to be very appealing. The wooden playing pieces... animals, shells, and dice... are much more appealing than the bright plastic pawns I grew up using and they keep players in mind of the origins of the game. The rules booklet is a trifold and is short and sweet, not much is needed to explain the simple game. It's all a very nice package, pleasant to look at and play with. The only (VERY minor) quibble I have with the otherwise wonderful presentation, is that the rulebook... at least in the copy I received... was folded a bit ham-handedly. It's obvious where it was meant to be folded but instead each panel is creased in such a way that it's uneven and... well a bit distracting. It really only stands out because the rest of the components are of good quality... but the rules booklet feels rushed. It's like a perfect meal at a nice restaurant... except that you're given a dirty fork. Still, a very minor thing and I won't take any points off for it.

I ordered this instead of the the old-fashioned paperboard one, which was like what my family had in the 1960's, because it has such bright colors and I thought my grands would be attracted to it. But the wooden board has *very* small spaces on it; it's very hard (well, wood would be, wouldn't it?), and the pieces are also very small: about 3/4" in their largest dimension. But what makes it really hard to actually play with is that the pieces can easily be jolted from one spot to another on the board. The fact that both parts are wood makes the pieces act like jumping beans. The dice, also wooden, hop off the playing surface at least as fast, and heaven only knows where they're going to come to rest. Never on the board itself, and seldom even on the table. (Better put a tablecloth on, ideally with a pad underneath.) I would give it one star for usability. But the second star is because obviously some effort was put into this set. The details are nice. They're just not functional. I think for board game play everyone will be better off with something that absorbs the shock a bit better: paperboard, for instance. Don't be seduced by the pretty looks, like I was. I really regret spending the money on this.

Pachisi is one of my family’s favorite games to play. Our old board was old and worn out so I ordered this board to replace it. This board is so beautiful and well made. The pieces are super pretty and we’re def enjoying the new board. Great value!

The box is beautiful, the board was also stunning and the colours are exactly what they look like in the pictures. Everyone said the pieces were too small so I was worried but they definitely aren’t! They are the size you’d expect them to be for the board and the images of the animals are very clear! The dice is printed a bit off (someone put a picture) but doesn’t make a difference to me at all, not noticeable unless you check I think. Definitely worth it!! Update: Still great but the board is a tad slippery so things move around a bit but not a major issue at all.

The board game is nicely designed except for the animal figureens. They are ok, but they are too small for an actual figure of the animal, and eventually it feels like you're holding shapeless pieces of wood.

What a gorgeous game so colourful and bright perfect for game night I love how it’s wooden I just wish the board was a little more sturdier or heavier. Perfect for gifting also!
