Share the challenges and fun of a week that starts with a rainy Monday and ends in wonder. In simple, straightforward text and marvelously expressive pictures, the author and photographer have captured the thoughts and feelings of one small boy. Whether he is proud or scared, lonely or excited, the boyโs face mirrors his emotion with the wonderful directness of childhood. This classic photographic picture book is a gentle and true pathway to explore emotions with preschoolers. Review: Preschool teacher approved! - This is a great book to help children learn about feelings. I love the visual images of emotions which display various emotions. Food for thought
I bought this for my daughter when she was about two and a half. She liked it then and is still very intrigued by it several months later. I love seeing the wheels turn in her mind as she imagines and works to comprehend someone else's predicament. Relatable emotions for a young child. Great photos.

I like all but two pages of this book
I like all but two pages of this book. This is due to the facial expression that is not common so it's not very easily interpreted or imitated. I also don't care for the way it ends (the resolution or the facial expression). When I read it I make up my own ending. Overall, it's a great resource for teaching kids that it's normal to experience a variety of feelings within a short period of time. I actually liked that it was black and white.

Really great classic book about feelings
Really great classic book about feelings. Nice and simple and the real pictures are perfect. Of course my son loves the one where he burps...I love books like this for my kids that address real situations they face. Perfect for talking about when they felt these ways and also seeing that it is a normal part of life and perfectly acceptable to feel these different ways at different times. Having labels for feelings is super helpful for little ones to reduce fits etc :)

Using with Zones of Regulation resources
Iโm using this for my 4 year old to teach Zones of Regulation- they have a lot of free resources on their site including a list of books and this was one of them that I couldnโt find at the library. The expressions are really great in this book- the kid and photographer did a great job getting disappointed, proud, embarrassed and more.

Perfect for early elementary mindfulness lessons
Perfect book for teaching temporary state of emotions and how our faces express feelings, as well as our bodies. Students enjoy guessing the emotion and then showing how they look when they are disappointed, embarrassed, etc. I used this as part of a mindfulness lesson with K-2 classrooms.
