Bedlam Helped Eliminate our Bedbug Problems
Nobody wants to admit they have bedbugs. We got them and still don't know where they came from. After much work we also got rid of them using a five-stage approach, of which Bedlam was an integral part. 1. We got bedbug mattress and box-spring bags for our beds. These are available from Amazon and other dealers. They are tightly woven and also have tight zippers which even the tiniest bedbug can not wiggle through. These provide a barrier which will keep any bedbugs that might be in your mattress from getting out -- even if there is a nest there. It also keeps the bedbugs out which will keep the mattresses free of bedbugs in the future. 2. We got some Diatomaceous earth powder. This again is available from Amazon or other retailers. The powder is incredibly fine, and has sharp pointy edges. These are too tiny to hurt your skin, but they will mess up bedbugs that walk through it or touch it pretty bad. It also can cause them respiratory issues. This is something that can occur in some humans and pets, so be sure to wear the best dust mask you might have, and keep pets clear while applying. Diatomaceous earth is non-toxic to humans and is even used in some food and drug products. Use this powder, following label directions, in cracks and crevices. These can be places like along baseboards, in cracks in furniture, and similar places. Bed bugs that go through this powder will soon be in bedbug heaven, but will not drop dead on the spot. Still, eliminating any bedbug will help, and bedbugs have not gotten resistant to Diatomaceous earth. 3. Clean or get rid of everything made of cloth you can. If you can't clean them with soap or water consider using high heat in a dryer. If the fabric will take such punishment, dry it. Heating bedbugs to these temperatures for around 30 minutes or so will kill any living bedbugs, and also kill bedbug eggs. If you have old clothing or linens, stuffed animals or other things you don't really want any way, through them out or burn them. (Don't store them inside while waiting to get rid of them, since they might move to a new area of the house.) If you have something you really can't clean, but don't really want to through out you might take a chance and use the hot dryer method to kill any bed bugs. We have done this on stuffed animals which are still being used with none showing any signs of damage after their ride in the hot-air. 4. Get bedbug furniture leg "coasters". These are plastic dishes into which furniture legs are placed. They work by having a highly polished surface on which the bedbugs can not climb, or by placing a barrier such as mineral oil between the floor and the bed or chair legs. This either traps the bedbugs so they can be eliminated, or poisons them and kills them. 5. Use Bedlam Spray to treat everything you couldn't otherwise treat. This product can be used on most fabrics where water is safe, as well as carpets and other surfaces. Bedlam will not normally knock down or instantly kill every bedbug, and some people criticize this, but the product will stick to living bedbugs like glue, and when the bedbug returns to it's safe place (usually occupied by other bedbugs) it leaves a trail of insecticide, and contaminate their nests and pathways. Other bedbugs who walk these same paths or live in the same areas will touch the insecticide and be killed too. Note that even if all bedbugs are eliminated, their eggs may still be present and these eggs can hatch and start another infestation. Apply bedlam again to the same areas in three weeks or so to kill off any new generations. It usually will require three to five treatments to get rid of all the bedbugs. Remember, bedbugs like to hide in tiny places during the day, so apply the Diatomaceous earth or bedlam to these areas first. Also remember that the closer you are to a place where a food source is (human being) the more likely you are to find bedbugs. So at 3 feet from the bed you might have a lot, at 6 feet a lot less, and so forth as distance gets further away. Bedbugs can smell people or blood and will move towards them -- their next meal. They may attach to clothing and move away from their blood supply, but usually will fall to the ground and try to work their way back to a blood source again.

Real Deal
This stuff works. Bought to treat a relative's apartment bedroom after seeing telltale signs of bedbugs following notification his neighbor's apartment was being treated for an infestation. Stripped the bedding off, treated the mattress, boxsprings, bed frame, the night stand and dresser (for good measure), the area under the bed, and baseboards/corners. It's been about two weeks and no evidence of bugs. Will continue to treat every two weeks for a few months to be sure. Used one full can for a queen mattress/boxsprings, standard metal bed frame a 6' wide six-drawer dresser, two drawer nightstand, and a 12' x 15' carpeted room.

This stuff works... Read the link to the Gov study on Bed Bug eradication. It's very informative.
READ THIS FIRST if you have Bed Bugs. It is from the National Center for Healthy Housing's document on What's Working for Bed Bug Control in Mutifamily Housing, it details every possible tip or trick that people use to get rid of bed bugs and peer reviews each method, it's the most comprehensive source I could find and took many hours of research before I came across it:: http://www.nchh.org/Portals/0/Contents/NCHH_Bed_Bug_Control_2-12-10.pdf If you don't want to click on a PDF, go here and scroll to the bottom: http://www.nchh.org/Program/HealthyHomesTrainingCenter/IntegratedPestManagement.aspx I moved into a place, luckily with hardwood floors, but unknown to me, there was already a presence living there. I started getting what looked like flea bites on my shin. I figured the place had fleas because the other tenants in this house split in two had dogs and the construction is a bit shoddy. It eventually stopped after a few days... so I thought no big deal. Then one day I saw a little tiny red thing running around my leg. I thought it was a red spider mite and didn't think much about it. A few days later, I saw a blood stain on my bedsheet. I thought What the HELL? I looked over my body and couldn't find a scratch? A few days later I woke up to find this bug on my arm running back and fourth panicking because I had just woken up. I squashed it and it oozed blood. So I freaked out. A few days later, I found one under my comforter in a fold where it probably crawled to hide but didn't get back "home". I identified it... IT WAS A FREAKING BED BUG! So, in a panic, I researched. For hours. Seeing how they've developed a resistance to just about everything with most sites saying, if you got them, you may never get rid of them. I was horrified. So I bought a can of regular Bedlam and a can of Bedlam Plus... one has some different ingredients, so I wanted to make sure to nuke them. I also bought Diatomaceous Earth, which as a fine powder, acts like sandpaper in insect's joints causing scarring which leads them to dehydrate. So I sprayed my mattress cover and bedframe until they were foamy soaky. I sprayed around the floor where my bed was and along the cracks in the walls where they had to be hiding. Then I filled every ledge of baseboard, every ledge of my bedframe and every nook and cranny with diatomaceous earth. Over the next few days, I found a few bedbugs slowly crawling around the area dying. GREAT! So I waited about another 10 days and redid the whole thing. Sprayed everywhere, powdered everywhere. So if you have a bug infestation of any kind in an area where it's really, really important that you get rid of them, don't screw around with RAID or any other OTC consumer product, your best bet is to get a can or two of this stuff (make sure you buy a little extra in case the first application doesn't completely solve your problem). For bugs that are DDT resistant and can survive a holocaust, you don't want to mess around. Grab some Diatomaceous Earth and some of this stuff, and you can't go wrong.

It really works
This works. My son stayed at a friends house and came back with bedbugs. The local exterminators quoted hundreds of dollars and multiple visits. We researched and found this. It remains on surfaces for about a month and kills the eggs as they are laid as well as the adults. We used this spray everywhere they could be, and they can hide in the tiniest crack. It got rid of them immediately, no more bites, no more paranoia about things crawling on me in my sleep. The residual killing is the key and this product does that well. It is also safe for cats if you use it right which was important to us.

It Works !
This is my 2nd go around with these rotten bugs. Last summer I had the house heat treated and it was worth it. But they were reintroduced to the house from one of the kids staying at a friends house. When we first found them again, I started treating the 2 bedrooms. I ordered 6 cans of this spray, knowing that I would need to treat all bedrooms. This is a residual spray, meaning that it will keep killing albeit at a slower rate even after it dries. The killing efficiency last around 2 wks. depending on surface being sprayed. I took all steps for these critters, laundering all bedding, spraying every nook and cranny in the rooms, dusting with the D. Earth etc. But we kept finding the darned things. I finally realized what was going on. I tore all the beds down to the frames and dismantled the frames. I checked every little seam and crevice in the head and foot boards. That's where I found them, and the eggs. I vacuumed up everything I could find and then sprayed the remaining eggs with 91% rubbing alcohol. Since the alcohol dries quickly, I then dusted all area with the D. Earth. Its been 2 wks. now and no bites or signs of anything living. I'm still doing bed checks every few days, but nothing so far. Use this spray in every tiny little seam or crack you can find. Pay special attention to door and window frames and all around head and foot boards. Also if the beds have the old style wood slats that the box springs sit on, take those out and check them well also. Don't leave any stone unturned when dealing with these bugs. Using the alcohol in conjunction with the spray with help the spray stretch further. Just know that the alcohol only works until its dry. It will kill almost immediately on contact. If GOD had been smart, he would have made Bed Bugs one of the seven plagues of Egypt!!! LOL

The Best Bed Bug Spray You Will Ever Find
I've been a property manager in low income housing for more that 15 years. I would estimate that about 75% of the units I have inspected had bedbugs. I spray this on the bottom of my shoes and pant cuffs before I go into any apartment. I have never taken a single bedbug home with me. I've seen bedbug infestation so bad those cursed little creatures are spreading into the hallways. A quick spray or two in the halls and affected areas in the apartment and bedbugs are dead on contact. Of course, a proffesional extermination company was called in later, but for the immediate residents felt better that you were taking their problem seriously. Get this product if you think you are going anywhere that you may come in contact with bedbugs. One note, if you have pets take your shoes off before entering your home. The product will make your pet either very sick or die if it were to lick on your shoes. You should be okay if you spray the product in the morning and get home in the evening. Bedlam should have dried, but you don't want to risk it.
