Smart Plug for Smart Home Automation. Works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Homekit, White

I’ve been using the Philips Hue Smart Plug as part of my smart home automation setup and it’s been absolutely flawless. I previously relied on Hive, but their reliability dropped off badly, with constant disconnects and frustrations. Switching fully to Philips has been the best decision I’ve made for my smart home. Since moving over, I’ve had zero disconnects and rock-solid performance throughout. The plug integrates perfectly with Alexa, Google Assistant and, most importantly for me, Apple HomeKit. The HomeKit integration isn’t just seamless, it feels essential and incredibly well thought out. Setup is simple, response times are instant, and everything just works. If you want the best, buy Philips — it’s smart home automation done right.

I have about a dozen of these plugs. I've been using them for a few years now and they are very useful. At Christmas I have lights in every window in my house (over three floors), as well as Christmas tree lights etc. Wandering around the whole house to turn them all on in the evening or off again before going to bed and trying to reach the light switch behind the Christmas tree without knocking the decorations off used to be a pain. With these plugs connected to my various Christmas lights, one command to Alexa and all the lights go on or off as required. Occasionally Netflix or Prime Video freezes on my TV and the only way to fix it is to turn the TV off and back on again. As the TV is mounted on a wall above a fireplace, I used to have to get a step ladder out to reach the switch behind the TV to restart it. With this smart plug I can just get Alexa to turn the power on and off. There are much cheaper smart plugs on the market, but the Philips Hue ones are reliable and they work very well with Alexa. If you are already invested in the Hue smart range of products (mainly lighting) using these smart plugs means you only have one app to go to set up and control all your Hue smart devices. These smart plugs also have a high amp rating (13 amps) which means you can use them safely with a wide range of electrical devices. That said, I wouldn't use them with something you plan to leave on for a long time which draws a lot of power (like a fan heater). In summary, great product, very useful, very reliable, works well with Alexa, highly recommended, but not cheap!

I wanted something that would be reliable for turning my subwoofer on and off as part of my AV setup for my tv as it doesn't have an automatic standby/low power mode. It's constantly waiting on a signal and therefore the power circuitry is constantly live. I also needed something that would integrate with my Logitech Harmony Elite which due to its age and lack of support for a lot of newer devices meant it wasn't as easy to select something compatible. This works great for this purpose, even if deviating slightly from its intended use (as a smart plug for a non-smart light), and was incredibly quick to connect to my Hue hub, name and configure for use with Alexa and Harmony. Literally 5 minutes, if that, and we're up and running. There are some quirks due to the Hue ecosystem expecting it to be a light, but none of these are really functional issues, just oddities due to it controlling a non-light device. These include: * if you add it to the same room as other Hue lights in Hue or Alexa and say "turn on/off the lights" it will trigger the hue switch as well as bulbs - fix this by putting it in its own room * in Harmony it only appears as a light, which is fine as you can assign it to a plug button on the remote and configure it within an automation, but does seem a bit odd to see a light called subwoofer My only real criticism is the price against other typical wifi/zigbee/matter plugs which tend to be half the price if not less - but for straight forward setup within an ecosystem that has limited compatibility these days, I can easily overlook this as it does exactly what I require.

Used to control some Christmas lights. Syncs perfectly with the Hue Bridge and never had any issues with it.

I have 5 of these around the house which I've been using for the last year without any problems at all. I use them in home assistant automations and they're fantastic for those hard to reach plugs e.g. behind wall mounted TVs etc. Things I like about these smart plugs: 1. Security of buying big name brand product 2. Although these are designed to work with the hue ecosystem, the fact that they use zigbee to communicate means that I can use them with home assistant using a sonoff zigbee 3.0 plus dongle (I don't have a Hue hub). 3. Integration into home assistant using ZHA was flawless - I've not tried with zigbee2MQTT but that should also work 4. They act as zigbee routers thereby extending my zigbee network - in fact I have 2 plugged in solely for this purpose. 5. they're super easy to use - just plug in and pair them. negative points... not much really - 1. they don't monitor energy use -if you want a smart plug that will monitor energy use, you'll need to try another brand 2. Like most smart plugs they're reasonably chunky. If you've got a double socket with the switches in the middle you should be fine getting another large plug in the other socket. (they don't obstruct the movement of my central switches). If you've got a double socket with the switches at the sides, getting another smart plug, or a large plug in the other socket may not be possible. Even a standard plug (eg phone charger) is very difficult (see photos). The USB plug socket in my photo is a schneider usb socket - I guess other makes may have different spacing. 3. you might not like the aesthetic of having a large extra plug in your socket - if that's the case there are now some UK zigbee smart sockets on the market which look like normal plug sockets but these would require replacing the whole socket so a bit more work.

Works perfectly as expected. Easy to setup in the app.
