Ethiopian Berbere

I lived in Ethipia many years and the berbere' there tasted totally different than this one I bought. I remember when they pushed a round end stick in a container to pulverize it and the dust coming out was extremely aromatic. I remember the berbere' there was like a red dust and very fiery, all you needed was a small teaspoon to flavor a pot of stew or else and what a flavor and spice it did give.This one I tastes like they added cinnamon and misses all the real flavor of the berbere'. It may be good for people who never tasted the real one. I will never buy any again. Franco M

It's okay. I never had Ethiopian foods. But the Vegetarian dishes i made with it my husband loved.

Tried this berbere after eating Ethiopian food with my wife. Excellent spice that adds depth to any dish especially Mexican, spaghetti, eggs or any other meat dish that you want a different unique flavor.

To be honest, I have no idea if this is authentic or not. But this is a terrific addition to my spice cabinet. I absolutely love adding this to bland halal cart food, it takes it to a whole new level. Also, unlike other Berbere seasonings out there, this has very minimal salt in it. So if you want to make your food extra spicy, you will not have to deal with all of the extra salt.
