Its sturdy, its metal, its channel
Well, this 12 gauge strut is made of metal and it has slots in the back of it so you can bolt it to stuff until your hearts content. I'm using it to mount a trolly that holds a gambrel for hoisting deer. I suppose you could also use it to mount a trolly and winch above the ol bed and you and the missus can get up to other reindeer games. To each there own.

This is much more solid than what I would have purchased at a local hardware store. It can easily handle the weight that I plan to use it for.
