Glyph BlackBox Pro External Hard Drive 7200 RPM, USB-C (3.1,Gen2) (2TB)

Perfect for the price and very easy to use. I am a music producer by trade, so I go through folders and files by the droves. I bought a second hard drive since my first hard drive was getting way too full. Always a great product by Glyph.

This HD is built like a tank!! I needed this to ease the burden of mobile multi-tracking using my DAW software, it it performs flawlessly!!!

I bought this drive as back up for my PC (running win 10). I've scoured thr internet, youtube, and the product website for help with the fact that it does not recognize the drive, ever, no matter what, etc. The only info I found came directly from the Glyph website, and it said the following: We have been able to reproduce a Glyph Manager failure to change drive modes with Windows 7 64-bit edition. We have established that Glyph Manager works properly in 32-bit Windows. While there is, at present, a driver issue with Glyph Manager when using Firewire on a 64-bit operating system, there is a workaround. Connect the Glyph RAID to your Windows computer using USB in order to change the drive mode. Once the drive mode has been changed, the Glyph RAID can then be connected via Firewire for formatting and data storage. The driver issue above only disaffects the use of Glyph Manager with a Firewire connection but not the use of the drive for any other purpose. Right. Don't buy this drive; you'll regret it.

Great for home use, but durable for traveling

It is well built and has a durable rubber case around it giving it a solid safe feel. It was not recognized in Windows but a quick call to their tech support got me the instructions for mounting the drive. I have not had it very long so I can't speak for the long term usage effects, buy right now it has been working very nicely. The only comment is that it would be very easy to include the mounting instructions for Windows users. I nearly returned it.

Fast as hell. I'm using with an Alienware 13 that has a Thunderbolt 3 port, and although it was a bit of a pain to set it up for Windows 10, the support staff were superb in getting me the right information. Their web site proved useless for this. Note that it comes formatted for Apple, so this is not plug-and-play for Windows. It does come with both USB C to C cables, and USB C to A. It does not seem to run particularly hot, and It also does come with a wall wart power power supply. It is not USB powered. To give some idea of the speed, it used to take almost an hour on my Windows 7 computer with a WD My Book 1TB hard drive to back up my Documents folder. With the BlackBox Pro and my Windows 10 computer, the same thing took no more than 15 minutes.

I really like this external HD. I like its ruggedness, especially the outside rubber shell. It does the job well transferring data back and forth. I'm just having issues having this thing work with the SATA port. It's sort of like an on/off kind of deal. When that happens, I have to connect via USB port, which makes a slower connection. On the plus side, this thing is massive, portable, and stylish.

Every year, I buy a new one. And every year, I am satisfied.
