Awesome Fit for 2006 Honda Element to keep you off the ground and In the Car! Super happy!
Bought this based on recommendations for my 2006 Honda Element EX since the OEM tailgate canopy is no longer sold. Well... this works AWESOME, and about $100 cheaper than the OEM version which looked the same!! Super pleased with the fit around the car; it is pretty darn tight considering it isn't made specifically for the vehicle. I also light that you can cinch up the bottom to ensure as tight a fit as possible. Again, this fits really well on my Honda Element, I just need stronger pistons on the rear hatch so the top doesn't droop (but that isn't this design's fault). For the money, I am extremely satisfied, and I love the reinforced gussets where the support rod fit into to, and the solid zippers (and two-layer construction with the rain fly). The only thing I don't really like is the fitment of the support rod; seems about a 1/2 in to 1 inch too long, but I may trim it a bit as I have a hard time tying it down into the canopy (but will wait to see if the fabric stretches a bit). I also recommend that, after you determine it will work for your car, that you spray the seams with water sealer to ensure that it will not leak--just an advance precaution to ensure many seasons of awesome car camping!! So happy with this purchase!

Fits great on my Tacoma, perfect for a weekend trip
Wasn’t sure if this would fit on my Tacoma with camper shell but it’s perfect. Very easy to put on, took less than 10 minutes. I parked with rear end a little elevated which helped rain shed off toward the front. Used a bungee to keep the rear window level. I have roof rack which made a peak Ed roof that also shed rain well. I’ll probably sew on a reinforcement patch where the ends of the rack lie to prevent rips. Also had a fair amount of wind but no problems with it staying on. This little tent made the difference in being able to camp comfortably in my otherwise too short truck bed, for a very reasonable price.

Not a perfect fit but will still be used
It’s a great extension tent to add to your vehicle for car camping. It’s sturdy and a great price. The setup is simple. However it’s not a perfect pair for a 2016 Jeep Renegade. First my vehicle antenna is on the rear roof just a few inches from the tailgate. To make sure the antenna does not poke through the tent you have to leave it exposed. So the top of the tent does not cross the roof completely. My tailgate is also not shaped like other tailgates in size so the edges I fear may poke the tent. The elastic bottom also does not wrap underneath the bumper. With all of those the tent does not tighten and there is no seal around the sides and bottom. I will make due with it however as there are not many options. I will bug spray the sides and buy “off” hip fans to hang in those areas to keep the bugs away. If I figure out any tricks I add to my review. Edit: Did a trial run and sprayed the sides of the tent with bug spray. This kept the bugs out for the most part. Still trying to figure out how to keep the tent secured under tailgate but that will come after next trial run. I also put the tent over my antenna this time and it did not poke a hole. Edit 2: End of season review. We placed the tent over antenna every time and it never poked a hole in the tent. I would say that means the material is great quality. Still have not been able to get a snug fit on the sides but this did not create a bug issue and we did use bug repellent hung in those areas just to make sure. I was able to snug the bottom section under the bumper but that means the tailgate is not completely opened above. So it is not an actual fit for my vehicle. I also tried different places to latch the tent on and have not found one that is snug enough. With all that said we used it on our cross country road trip from New York to Arizona from Arizona back to New York traveling through 11 states and it was effective to save money. We were off the ground and stayed dry so that is why it still gets 4 stars. It was also used on several local camping trips and was a big hit with people and I offered the same review and recommended it for a simple cost effective way to get off the ground, stay dry and turn your vehicle in to a sleeper.

Does not fit my minivan at all
I was so excited after doing lots of research to find a tent like this. I went to the car wash so the van would be super clean in case it didn't fit or was a pain to set up. I have one for my Prius that I LOVE. But there was no way this device was working on my Sienna - way too small. It seemed well-made and set up was simple, but it does not work on a 2015 Sienna. So sadly, I am returning. I was so pleased with myself for getting it folded back up nicely enough to fit back in its little storage bag. But there was NO WAY that bag was going back in the original box. Thank goodness the UPS store will take care of packing it up.

Honda Element success!
Works great for my 2003 Honda Element. Fits surprisingly well even though it wasn’t made for this car. You can’t open your hatch fully but it’s not a huge problem while getting in and out. Super easy to install. Great for when you get to the campsite just before dark and don’t have much time before dark. Also held up great during a long night of thunderstorms with no leaks. I did use a couple of strong magnets on the sides of the car to seal it off a little better and stuffed a couple of cloth shopping bags on the sides of the tailgate to fill the gaps. 100% recommend it. Seems sturdy and well made.

Did NOT fit my MDX
The tent opening was too small to properly cover the opening of the trunk of my MDX. If I pulled the tent down so it would go under the bumper as it is supposed to then the tailgate was almost closed. Returned for full refund but bummed it didn’t work. If it had been sized correctly I think it was fairly easy to install. No harder than a simple regular tent. Not super high quality but good enough for my purposes, at least from what I could tell since I didn’t get a chance to actually “field test” it.

This is a great camping option!
I found this tent very easy to install and repack (most important!) into its bag, so it is very convenient to transport. I have a Chrysler minivan and it fits great. I did have to use a couple extra clips on the bottom to hold it over the bumper while not covering the exhaust (just in case), but the clips fit the bag as well. Adjusting the bungee cords and securing them to the length you need is key for ease of reuse. I recommend getting a couple of car window screens as well for the front windows to increase ventilation, weather permitting. Stays very dry, and I have used it in some heavy rains with now leaks or points of water entry. I use an actual twin mattress with no concerns of it getting wet. Strong recommendation!

Not a custom fit, but worked very well!
I used this on a 2012 Toyota Sienna for a cross country road trip with my child. This was the perfect way of sleeping in the car with a built-in sleeping pallet, and I was able to use a small AC unit with this set-up. We rarely went through the back hatch (climbed in from sliding doors), but I could easily access our camping supplies through the large tent doors. It was a little short for the Sienna, which meant I had to accept the hatch not opening all the way or finagle the bottom because it wouldn't wrap around the bumper. I just put two tarp clips on the bottom edge of the tent material and ran small bungees to my trailer hitch bar. This allowed the hatch to open more and still keep the tent material against the vehicle. I did not use the shock pole - seemed to fit better without. I bought a few small round magnets which proved useful in heavier wind. Kept out the bugs in Louisiana. Survived a heavy storm in Texas. Kept the vehicle cool (with AC unit) in Arizona. Allowed for great breezes in Kansas. Good for the price. It's not a custom fit, but it fit our needs!
