Read your gun manual and see what it says about dry firing. I have a Ruger SR9C and it says only dry fire with a magazine in it. If you are new to guns or even new to a specific gun, most gun safety teachers say "you cannot dry fire enough for practice." It helps you get used to squeezing the trigger and the feel of your weapon (less the recoil). These snap caps have a spring in them where the firing pin hits it which will help reduce the wear on your firing pin. You load them in your weapon (I only use one at a time) and then you have to manually cock the pistol and "fire" it. I only use one at a time until it wears down and only pull my slide back far enough to cock my pistol without ejecting the snap cap. If it is a revolver then load all chambers and you can load them in your magazine but you have to manually cock your pistol for it to eject. I hope this helps! **Q: Might be a stupid question, but do these actually cycle through the gun or do you eject them manually?** A: Not a stupid question. The basic intention of snap caps is to cushion the shock to the firing pin/striker when the shoulder hits the frame. The answer to your question is "no", the slide does not cycle as there is no explosive force to run the slide. For dry practice exercises, you have to pull the slide manually. In the case of my XDs and my son's Glock, you only have to pull the slide back MAYBE half an inch to reset the striker. You can also simulate some malfunctions and how to clear them by stovepiping one of the snap caps (failure to eject) or failure to fire. **Q: Can this be used in the Gen 4 Glock 26?** A: I am not familiar with a Glock 26, but if it is a 9mm, I see no problem, I have a Glock 19 Gen 4, which is a medium size 9mm, and the snap caps work fine, their main purpose is to keep the hammer from striking and damaging the firing pin, so as long as the Glock is chambered for 9mm, I see no problem. Now of course the snap cap does not hold an explosive charge, so it will not recycle the slide, but I am sure you are aware of this. These snap caps allow you to fire your Glock, and not experiencing the recoil, and there by, not having the tendency to flinch, and moving your gun sight off of your target, what I do is have someone else to randomly load my Glock magazine with live rounds and snap caps ( I think you should buy a few packages of snap caps, which should give you about fifteen snap caps to intermingle with your live rounds) and then if you don't know whether a live round or snap caps comes next you will get over the tendency to jerk your weapon in anticipating a recoil, and therefore by the time you feel the recoil, your projectile is already on its way, and anyway, in theory this will help you get better groups on your target, good luck, I hope this helps you, and by the way these snap caps should last you quite a while. And as always, point your gun at the target, so as to never, fire a live round at a person, or anything you don't want to destroy. This might be more information, than you need, or want, but in the interest of safety, I would never want you to point a weapon and fire, at anything you don't want to destroy, not knowing whether you have a snap cap or a live round in the chamber.
