How are these boots in hot weather?

I’m in California and I often ride in 100 degree weather. The boots don’t make my feet feel any hotter, but they don’t make them any cooler either. When I’m done, my socks are soaking.

Does the calf opening and width get bigger with size?

It was wider than I expected (hoped), but looks great when I tuck my jeans into them. Of course, this is my first pair of REAL boots, so I'm not sure what the norm is for a calf opening. That said, the foot fits snug, so my feet do not slide around or slip out when I walk. I've only had mine a day, so I'm not sure if the loose shaft will cause chaffing.

I’m a medium width and they fit just fine with a heavy sock. I find them great for walking—very sturdy.
