Monoprice Banana Binding Post - Two-Piece inset Wall Plate for 1 Speaker, Coupler Type, Color Indicators, Gold

I got this unit to install connections for a second pair of speakers. Previously I went to one of the box stores and bought a plate and two pairs of speaker binding posts and assembled everything together (I was in a rush and didn't want to buy online). Truth is - my first installation looks great - took a bit of time to put the pieces together, and cost me about $15. Yeah....a huge difference between this Monoprice unit and the "put it together collection" that I got from the box store. When I decided to install a second set I went to Amazon and bought this unit and I can honestly say that this is one quality item! Contrary to the negative review that says this doesn't fit into a standard electrical box - IT DOES! For my installation I picked up a standard plastic electrical box and attached it - then slid wires in through the back of that and connected the wires to the binding posts. The unit comes in two pieces - the inner piece that contains the binding posts and an outer plate. Once you make the connection on the back side of the binding posts you secure that piece to the electrical box. Then you fit the cover over that and attach the cover using the smaller color-matched screws. This unit gives you options both inside and out for different wire connections - you can use spades, direct wire or banana plugs. Inside the box I just used the direct wire to binding post connection and tightened. I briefly considered using spades but I was lazy! Anyway, everything went together quickly, smoothly, and with no issues at all. It looks very professional and very clean - every bit as good as my first installation - but at 1/3 the price. I highly recommend this unit and this vendor. In fact I have bookmarked Monoprice for futire purchases.

Great quality and will work for my needs, but unfortunately these are not a standard decora size for a wall plate. As I am setting up a 9.4.6 system I intended to use a 4 gang low voltage box with (3) 5 speaker posts and a 4th keystone plate with the RCA inputs. Problem now is that there is no wall plate for purchase that will cover all 4. Luckily I have a 3D printer and there are quite a few 4 gang switch plate STL files available and with a pair of calipers and some modification I was able to make my own wall plate. As this will be on the back wall of an AV closet its okay, but if it was going to be highly visible it may not look that great. An alternative might have been to buy a standard 4 gang plate and do my best to dremel out the slightly larger size required for these binding post insterts but that probably would have come with its own set of issues. Just something to consider when buying these if you intend to use more than one.

Added 4 new speakers in our home theater for height (Atmos) speakers. Needed a wall plate for those speakers. Easy install. A much better look than just having speaker wires running out of a hole in the wall. This wall plate works well with the Sewell banana plugs I also bought here on Amazon.

Monoprice has far exceeded my expectations with every product I have purchased from them. Not only are they inexpensive, but they are QUALITY, which far surpasses price in my opinion! This Banana Plug Binding Post was exactly what I expected: solid, heavy-duty plastic frame with strong & tight connectors for my speaker plugs. Installation was super easy as it is a two-piece design that fits into a standard electrical box, much like the ones you would use for light switches, power outlets, etc. They include two sets of screws with different lengths to eliminate the hassle of going to the hardware store for the right fit. The connectors bind onto the banana plugs VERY well on both sides; no worries of them falling out. Best of all, the wall plate is about 1/4 of the price you would expect to pay at a "big-box" store! If you are looking for quality at a price that won't hurt your wallet, look no further and buy these wall plates!

Nice and compact. Plenty heavy duty. Easiest to use if you're using banana plugs. Handle twisted stranded wire too, but connection space is tight. Twisted stranded may be the most challenging to connect, but are also the most secure connections and recommended if you don't need to move the speakers often.

I'd been wanting to clean up the wiring for my home stereo for several years, but balked at other wall plates that were several times the price of these. I was browsing some other home stereo items when Amazon recommended these, and they were so reasonable that I decided to go ahead and try them. I am very happy with the quality, they feel solid and well-built. The posts were all well-secured, neatly arranged, and operate smoothly. They open wide enough to make inserting wire easy, and the knurled nuts make snugging them down simple. It's a simple product, but one that, if cheaply made, would have been a hassle to use. These worked well and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Binding post works well or to use banana plugs are good fitting 17 years doing this I would say for the average person these are excellent choice.
