The 171-pc set is made in both Taiwan and in China. It will be marked on the packaging, but not on the tools. The Taiwan set (better, obviously) has the lower-tooth-count ratchets. Something like: the Chinese set uses 72-tooth ratchets, and the Taiwanese set uses 45-tooth ratchets. I know that 72 is a higher number than 45, but will take the Taiwanese set I have over the Chinese one any day. Not trying to start a trade war.

Taiwan or china. Still a good set I haven't had any issues with it. But I dropped the box and the pins that hold it together broke other than that no issues.
