Messianic Judaism: A Modern Movement with an Ancient Past

I absolutely love this book! I bought it as a gentile Christian who is drawn to Messianic Judaism. I am so happy that I purchased this book!! It helped me understand parts of my own Christianity that I hadn't previously understood. It's a must read for any Christian who wants to get a better understanding of their own faith!

Insights that I hadn't expected were given.

Great book. The reader should consider seriously purchasing his jewish commentary on the new testament for it gives you much context from the jewish background that it was written and how it fits in many of the misunderstood passages of the New Testament. Definitely, you won't repent if you have one if your bookcase.

A friend and I were getting together weekly to discuss various chapters in the book. One thing we quickly observed was that the book was ten years old and therefore a lot had changed in the Messianic community since the book was published. So, we looked at the book with more of a historical perspective and for what we could learn about Messianic Judaism and the people. We also observed that at times the author seemed inconsistent with his views almost as if he wasn’t settled with the issue he lays forth. The other observation was that the author had some kind of heart wound about Christians in the past that we didn’t quite grasp why he brought it up in the book. There were some interesting ideas, views and thoughts that were quite interesting. We both hope that the author will update this book because there has been such an explosion of Messianic material and more happening with the relationship between Christians and Jewish people. When you read the book with discernment, glean what you can about the Messianic Community and how the bridge can be made between Christians and Jewish people. My friend and I both love Israel and the Jewish people and desire to learn more about the Jewishness of the Scriptures, land and people. We hope you will join us on this quest that has really opened our eyes and heart to the chosen people of God, and His Word!

I'm still reading the book. I've been slow because I'm underlining a lot of text. The book is deep; well-researched. I'm getting a lot from it. I have David Stern's "Complete Jewish Bible." His translation is the way it should have been done from the beginning. Since the church has been grafted into the promises God made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we are intrinsicly related to Israel and brothers and sisters in the Messiah. I recommend this book for Messianic Gentiles (Christians) and seeking Jews.

The item was from a scholars' library and is in excellent condition. I would highly recommend it for future sales.

On time...in great condition

The book was everything i was looking for in as far as enlightenment from a Jewish perspective and also a great supplement to my existing faith that God is the same then as he is now and will ever be. The words brought this "grafted" Gentile so much closer to God and his purpose for us all both as individuals and a nation under Yeshua.

I bought this asa gift for a friend who is more than pleased with this item, the item came well on time and was packed excellantly, it was in perfect order and not damaged by post, I would use this service again

An excellent book, a must read for Jew and Gentiles

unlike other works by stern, this was is much more meaty and will take time to thoroughly digest and break apart, and i suspect will require a handful of readings before a comprehensive appraisal of its content can be made. that aside its content and the questions raised are of vital importance to both messianic jews and christians who with to reach out to the people Israel. that aside, the publication is edition 1 and contained some awful spelling errors and typographic problems (i encourage everyone to wait for the next reprint)
