Tom Buckingham has blood on his hands. Neck deep in trouble for taking down a renegade Afghan soldier, heโs sent back homeโangry, betrayed and out of work. But with riots and rebellion spreading like wild fire on the streets of Britain, Tomโs unique skills are soon noticed by a charismatic billionaire with a questionable agenda. Buckingham finds himself thrown back into the covert world of intelligence where a play for power is underway. Heโll have to decide where his loyalties lie if heโs to intervene in a series of events that will threaten the whole nation. Time is running out and lives are at stake; is there anyone Tom Buckingham can trust? Review: Five Stars - Good read as always. Review: I really enjoy McNAB's style of writing using his years of experience ... - Another high paced thriller with enough plot twists to keep the pages turning. I really enjoy McNAB's style of writing using his years of experience in 22 SAS as the building block for his characters. The fact that you can 'read between the lines' and gain a real insight into how the SAS operatives carry out their roles, the equipment they use and the tactics they employ and the amazing skills they possess is why I will keep buying every book Andy writes. I love this stuff!

Tense thriller for our time
Another great read from Andy! Bit too close for comfort maybe?

fun and relaxing
The reader cannot pretend a complex spy story, but this book is anyway a good read. Some aspects do not really make sense, except preparing some material for the next chapters, that I will buy anyway!

Great read.
I read this after watching the SAS Red Notice movie. Loved the movie and decided to read the rest of the series. This has plenty of action and I can see a sequel possibility for a movie. If you like James Bondish books, try this one.

Fortress
Fortress This is the second in the series of books by Andy McNab featuring SAS trooper Tom Buckingham. Buckingham is not your usual Regiment member in that he comes from a well-to-do background and can easily mix in the higher echelons of society. Buckingham is based in Afghanistan when his base comes under attack. Despite being instrumental in beating back the attackers he suspects that one of the Afghan officers may have played a part in giving the attackers access. He makes this clear in the most public way possible. The CIA get him transferred back home and once there he is advised by the SAS that he is suspended from the Regiment and will be returned to his former Army unit in the next few weeks. Buckingham returns to a Britain in chaos. The Metropolitan Police are accused of shooting an unarmed Muslim community worker and the Muslim community are on the streets protesting. Shortly afterwards a hostel for former military personnel is bombed and the body of a deal Muslim is found in the ruins. Indications are that the bomber had not long returned from Syria where had allegedly been fighting for Muslim forces. The security services are struggling to cope and ethnic tension rises considerably between communities. One MI6 officer believes that there is more to these incidents than initially appears the case. His view is not shared by others in his organisation. He persuades Buckingham to go undercover and infiltrate a military veterans support organisation which appears to be creating a private army. Buckingham is warmly welcomed in light of his experience and of the way he was treated by the Army. He soon discovers that there is an international aspect to this group which goes to the highest levels. This is an entertaining book which does not engage in subtlety and moves at a fast pace throughout. Whilst it could be regarded as being extreme in its plot content it does give an indication of how easy it is to subvert public opinion and create an environment of fear, hostility and violence.
