Ordered the dark oak colour as this best matches our furniture, and I ordered the next size up for the alcove I wanted it to fit it in so I could then trim down to size for a perfect fit. Shelf is nice and chunky, and comes supplied with all required fixings. Screw holes are at 80cm centres and after cutting the shelf to size with my electric mitre saw I held it up against the wall and in the position I wanted, and with a spirit level on top. When I was happy I marked a horizontal pencil line on the wall along the top of the shelf. I then took the shelf away and so that I cold see where the holes in the shelf were. Using a square I marked the top back edge of the shelf at the centre point for the holes so I could see where they were. Then I offered the shelf back into position and marked the existing horizontal pencil line on the wall where the screw hole markings on the shelf were. With the shelf being approx 40mm thick, I transferred a mark down by 20mm from my existing mark. This became the mark for drilling the holes in the wall. I first drilled two 6mm holes, ensuring my SDS drill was perfectly level and 90 degrees to the wall, then I enlarged these with a 10mm drill bit. I inserted the supplied wall plugs, then slipped the supplied washers over the fixing bolts, and screwed them in. The fixing screws have a flat area meaning you can get a spanner on them for the last few turns. I then slid the shelf onto the fixings, but to properly get the shelf holes aligned with the wall fixings I had to remove the shelf and back off the fixing screws a bit, so that they all lined up, then pushed the shelf back against the wall.

Fab shelves and such good quality and finish. The colour is true and matched my hearth slab so I was over the moon when I opened the packages. Very heavy chunky design so no worries about the weight they could hold. Ordered more as soon as I saw how great they were. Worth the money if looking for rustic shelves. Now just got to get them fitted in fireplace alcove. Highly recommend

Its very good on the whole but its very very easy to damage. Which is why i give 4 star. Other than that i recommend it

We got a person to fit these as otherwise they might have been wonky - we are not handy with tools. That said the fitter did say they were excellent quality and easy to fit. They look amazing and complement the cupboard below. We have family photos displayed and very pleased with the quality of the wood.

Great product however states for various rooms including bathroom yet states avoid coming into contact with water, which suggests not suitable for bathrooms or kitchens .

This shelf is simply a single, chunky piece of solid wood with good quality fittings. The shelf was very easy to install, with the concealed fittings being adjustable to allow a degree of height adjustment. Unlike some other 'floating' shelves that I've installed, this one feels solid and unlikely to sag. I'm so pleased with this shelf that I've already ordered another one.
