"10/box, 4 box/carton" and then "sold as 40/carton." i am confused... how many am i actually getting?

You are getting 4 boxes, which each have 10 in them. So the total is 40.

does this fit the extended wand also or just the shorter wands?

I have bout the short and extended wond, they come with the refill duster. I have had no problems with the refills on both wonds.
