It works with linux!
I got a few things to say about this "record player". It's also plays: * MP3s from USB drive * FM Radio * CDs * Streaming from bluetooth * Anything that can plug into AUX * Cassette tapes * 1 other thing I can not remember right now. Recording to PC is easy. 1. Turn on your computer. (Skip this step if it is already on) 2. Turn on the Victrola 8-in-1. (Skip this step if it is already on) 3. Plug in a simple-no-nonsense USB-A to USB-B cable (If you only have USB-C ports, you will need an adapter) to your computer. (Skip this step if you have already plugged in the cable) 4. Plug the other end of the cable to the back of the Victrola 8-in-1. (Skip this step if you have already plugged in the cable) 5. Lauch the audacity program (You can download this from audacityteam.org) or if you prefer another recording program you can use that. Personally I have been using audacity since the early 2000's so it came about about the same time that records got popular and therefor it is in my opinion the best software to use for recording records and cassette tapes) 6. Select which source you want to record from. There are many options: * Record player * Cassette player * FM Radio * Possibly other sources (although I do not know why you would want to record what is streaming from your mobile device, USB / MP3, or CDs as those formats are already probably on your computer except for perhaps the CD but it is easier to copy a CD using your computer's CD drive, unless you do not have one, then this seems like a viable alternative although I have not done so myself so I can not guarantee it. In fact I don't guarantee anything, I did not invent, produce, market, and sell the Victrola 8-in-1, all guarantees must be made by the aforementioned entities and I take no responsibility) 6. Hit record on your computer. 7. Play the soutce material as described in the manual. 8. When the song or whatever is finished, press stop on your computer. 9. Stop the playback from the source. 10. It is now time to export your audio. Go to the file menu, and choose "export audio" 11. Save it as either MP3, OGG, or WAV format. OGG is a good lossless compression, MP3 sounds pretty good but is lossy. WAV uses no compression, so it is a larger file, but has perfect sound quality. This is a good option if you do not want todeal with lossy compression but do not have the ability to play ogg vorbis files for some reason. And that's it! Make sure you select the appropriate device for your audio in, it will show up as a digital SPDIF device. Also this might not work if your computer is too old or does not have USB ports of any kind. Pros: * Adequate sound quality. 4/5 stars * Record any format to any other format that your computer can play * Looks great * Bluetooth has great range * Compatible with the linux operating system, although not mentioned in the manual Cons: * Cassette player is not great, they could have put a player with proper play, rewind, fast forwar, and pause buttons. Instead you stick the tape in and you can only play or fast forward, you have to flip the tape over to reqind. There is only one putton, so you push the tape all the way in to play, then push the button half way to fast forward, then push the button all the way in to eject, then push the tape back in to play. * There is not support for external speakers. In may cases this is fine because the internal spearkers are pretty good. But if you wanted to have more speakers you can not easilly do this, you would have to hook the headphones up to a seperate amplifier which defeats the purpose of having a single unit, and will turn off the built in speakers. You could also open it up and hack the main board to add additional speakers, but this will VOID YOUR WARRANTY. * it was slightly too big to fit on my record player cabinet so I had to get a different record player cabinet that was slightly larger. This turned out to be a good thing in the end because it can hold more records, but it was very dissapointing at first but still not bad enough to leave a bad review. Overall I give this a 4.6 star review, I put it in as 5 stars because that was the closest I could get to 4.6

Great sound and performance but remote a bit quirky.
I needed a compact all-in-one sound system for my living room to put atop a new bookcase. This Victrola 8-in-1 delivered just fine. It contains a record player, CD player, cassette player, FM radio (no AM in mine though some models come with it), Bluetooth connectivity and the capability to record off your Cd's or USB. At only 13 pounds it stands on my bookcase without any fear of damaging it and it looks beautiful - the woodwork is outstanding in my opinion. This is what a retro sound system should look like. But the real factor is the sound and functionality. First the sound. The sound from all sources is great overall, but I would have hoped for for bass or at least a treble-bass knob to customize the sound so what what you hear is what you get. The bass is not bad by any means but if onw wants more in this area perhaps get external speakers to boost the sound. For my purposes in the room it's in I am satisfied. Note however that the unit comes with a wire antenna and not a metal telescoping one. You will have to adjust the placement to get the best sound. Now to the remote. it is a bit quirky and here's why. For starters there is no On/Off button on it - you must turn the unit on manually with the power button on the front left. Then after you turn the system on, you must wait a second or two for it to power on before you select what mode you want to listen to. This also applies even when the unit is turned on and you want to switch from one mode to the other. You just have to let the unit breathe so to speak before each function is enabled. Not a big deal to me but you should all know this. Please note that the buttons on the remote are duplicated on the front of the system so you have a choice of how to make it work The remote also has the usual controls for volume and CD function ( FF, reverse, track, pause, mute). The record player functions just fine - just read the directions first. There is a grip to hold the tonearm in place when not in use - please use this. Also, the tonearm is manual and not automatic so be aware of when the side ends to lift the arm and put it back in the cradle. The stylus seems OK and does not to damage to the records as some have said but I will keep an eye out for this. The CD player has a tray for the CD which works fine and seems sturdy but if using the remote to get the tray out you must point it directly in front of the tray for it to come out. There is also an eject button in the right front of the unit for this purpose. CDs sound fine. The radio also sounds great - just know that when you turn it on it will sound at the highest volume level so be prepared. Depending on your reception you may need to adjust the placement of the wire antenna. You decide whether you just move it curled up or whether to unravel it. You should know that you cannot change stations with the remote. You must use the dial in front of the unit for this. Some may not mind this but others may. I just listen to one FM station most of the time so no big deal for me. Again there is no AM on my model. Bluetooth connectivity is quick and easy with excellent sound quality. The manual says the Bluetooth operates a 30 foot distance from the unit but I have not tried this so I cannot say for sure. As for the cassette player I have not tried it so cannot comment on its functionality. I did not buy this system because of the cassette player so that was not am issue for me. So to sum up the Victrola 8-in-1 is great unit for the price. The remote will take a little getting used to but should not be a deal breaker. The sound and functionality are just fine for an average size apartment - I can hear it playing clearly from the back of the apartment. So I would say go for it - you should be fine with this unit. And it looks great too.

My father loved it.
I got this as a gift for my father and being a big lover of music he got lots of use from it. I'm sure most people no longer own radios with playable CD and Cassette- my father didn't before getting this Victrola player, but he held onto all his CDs and cassette tapes. It's a nice player and it looks great in any room it's in. It's easy to use and worth the value. It's fairly heavy so it's best to keep it on a good sturdy surface.

Please Read NO BLUETOOTH SPEAKER OPTION
This serves its purpose in the sense that it truly plays CDs, radio, Records (with the adapter stored nicely in the box), and tapes. It does this through the speakers that are encased. The speakers are fine but not the best quality if you want bigger fuller sound and bass. Note that the description is wrong here. “EXPANDED CONNECTION OPTIONS – Extend the sound by connecting external speakers or an amplifier via the RCA Line outputs or bluetooth out technology. For personal listening, plug your headphones into the headphone jack.” There is NO OPTION to connect speakers through Bluetooth out technology as they claim. I have confirmed this with Victrola after trying to figure it out for several days. I bought this in part because of this description as I planned to connect to my surround sound system (made of nice speakers and a subwoofer). This did not work despite the description claim that it does. I missed my return window trying to figure it out. I do not want others to have this same experience. It will connect with aux cables to speakers but this requires more money on new speakers again. I would have rather spent more on a player and used the speakers I have. This is cute, it works, it has decent sound at low levels but you cannot connect Bluetooth out speakers to it.

Perfect gift
Gifted this to my husband for Christmas, and we love it! We have played records, CDs, cassettes, radio, and paired using Bluetooth. It sounds so good on each setting. We also love the vintage look. It has become our most used media player.

It's really good for casual vinyl people who might like a radio playing and pop a record. Don't have audiophile expectations.
I've only had it for a week so far but after having to choose between the Aviator and the Electrohome Signature and taking a chance with either of them despite the scary negative reviews that had me worried about these all-in-one record players. It's not bad. The speakers are pretty decent and damn well can get loud if you're just a casual vinyl person and not audiophile. Also! Big plus is this one has phono out which is nice if I ever want to add some powered external speakers in the future unlike the Electrohome from what I've read. So, you know, keep that in mind. The am/fm radio is really nice and clear even in this three story apartment building I'm in which acts like the Bermuda triangle and can't get a signal out with my phone to save my life sometimes. The bluetooth works excellently and quick. (Note: the Aviator will show up as, "Wooden music player" or something along those words.) The cd player works which is all I can really say on that subject because I played, like, two disc on it but it works nonetheless and reads even clear, black, blue cd backs. Haven't tried the cassette player yet. I'll add onto this later when I get some cassettes to play some day. And the big one. The vinyl player. It comes with a little first startup manual laid across the platter. So setting it up was easy. It plays all speeds like it says it should. I tried 33 1/3 LP's, 45's, and 78's. It comes with a tonearm lift so that's nice so you don't have to just drop it. The platter doesn't skip and the needle reads clearly. Now of course the quality of the needle some audiophiles will say, "Eck! Ceramic garbage! Destroy your records!". Like, okay, sure probably they do but I just wanted something that works and doesn't actually destroy your records like Crosley's record players. It's good, good for casual vinyl players that just want to play some of their old records, and new ones occasionally. It's actually not bad. Also the packaging was something else. In a good-ish way. Came in four boxes and the box with the record player in it was protected with foam braces and air bags. The vinyl player has a transport screw the tone arm was secured with a wire and foam block and plastic clip to hold it to the resting arm and the platter was held stiff with a foam block pressed down to it. I'd recommend holding onto these foam pieces just for future reasons. The needle was protected with a plastic cover. They supply three extra replacement needles and a microfiber cloth. A manual included with a remote. The remote did not come with batteries. The remote acted funny at first with the volume not going up or down without first going down once before going up in volume and vice versa. The knob for the volume on the console is weird it's molded with a arrow and a printed - to + picture but the knob you might have to twist it around all the way twice to turn it from 20 to 0 volume because, I don't know, oversight?

Good - until it's not
I loved this player for the first 6 months. Then, after playing nothing but 33 1/3 record albums for those first 6 months, I played a couple of 45 rpm records. After playing those, I switched back to 33 1/3 - the albums wouldn't play. I went back to 45's, but they wouldn't play either (i.e., the turntable wouldn't turn). I called customer service - it went straight to voice mail despite numerous attempts. I left a message, but they did not call back. I finally received an email stating that they would send a replacement within a month once I sent the unit back at MY EXPENSE (not cheap). Oddly, the customer service phone outgoing message ALWAYS says "We're receiving higher than normal call volume". They then do everything that they can to get you to go to the website (because they simply don't want to deal with you over the phone). If you look at other vintage record players from other vendors, you'll find similar stories. Sadly, I believe that since vinyl record players are not mass produced like they used to be 40 or 50 years ago, there simply isn't the expertise available to build quality vinyl record players anymore. Therefore, you'll find comments like mine scattered throughout multiple reviews on Amazon for record players distributed from multiple manufacturers. Back when I was a kid, a record player would last forever - the turntable would never just stop turning. Unfortunately, in 2018 - the same care is simply not put into manufacturing these types of devices - most likely because the demand for them is very niche and small. Very sad for those of us who still enjoy vinyl. However, I would be more understanding if the customer service was better. Unfortunately, these companies will sell you a record player and then cross their fingers hoping that the until plays without a hitch until after the warranty period expires. If it doesn't, they make it as inconvenient as possible for you to return it in the hopes that you'll just give up. With that said, I would never discourage anyone from purchasing a record player like this because I understand the love that folks like us have for old vinyl records. Just be aware - customer service is the key with these companies because, as my dad used to say, "They just don't make them like they used to".

Great sound on all features, the radio, phonogragh, CD player and cassette player.
This is a great product! The sound is great and it is very easy to operate. I bought one for my husband's birthday and he absolutely loves it! He has been playing his old vinyl records on it as well as old CD's and cassettes. The radio comes in clear as a bell. That was a concern because we have a metal roof and other radios did not come in well. I highly recommend this product and cannot say enough about it.

Very low vinyl sound
I do not recommend buying this product. I acquired this Victrola and when I heard the vinyl, I found that its sound was very low. We can only hear if we sit in front of the sound or put on a headset, but it is still low. In the other functions Victrola works normally. I tried to contact the manufacturer to solve the problem through their website, but they never answered me. I have a device that I can't hear the vinyl and this was the main reason for the purchase

I can enjoy my records again!
With the advent of iPods and phones, my record collection went into a box and collected dust for the past few decades but with this great little machine I can now play them again. Sound quality is decent, if you are a true audiophile you will want something more elaborate with components but for someone like me who wants to just enjoy their records, CDs, and tapes again, this is an absolute gem. Found a great place for it in the family room and I've been listening to records I haven't heard for over 20 years. Love it!
