My experience is that manual connection, taking about 15 seconds, is needed in about 25% of attempts.At the end of a few hundred key strokes, if the cursor control down key is overused, or after similar keying activity, the Palm resets itself and all typing since the last 'Done' is lost. Issuing a 'Done' from time to time avoids too much wasted effort.Two important symbols missing from the keyboard, when used in Palm OS mode, are the 'pound' sign and the Palm `Short-cut' symbol.Overall, the products works very well and the longevity of the 2*AAA batteries in the keyboard impressed me. I estimate a usage time in excess of 50 hours. For comparison, the battery in my Palm Tungsten E2 runs down after about 2 hours of intermittent typing at an enthusiastic amateur typing speed.I recommend this product for simple typing tasks away from a PC, such as on train or plane or in a library. The Palm Keyboard beats a laptop quite easily, as the set up and connection time to the Keyboard is only a few seconds, and the operation is almost silent, without cooling fans cutting in. Shut down of the Palm and Keyboard is similarly a few seconds. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is the ticket! *by D***L on Reviewed in the United States on 2 November 2007* I had used the Palm keyboard model 3169WW ( Palm 3169WWZ Universal Wireless Keyboard ) for a couple of years, and got fed up with it. It was being very temperamental. I've upgraded now to this Palm Bluetooth keyboard, and love it. It works smoothly every time, and is more stable so that I can use it on my lap without backing it up with a book or a clipboard. I can carry it in my pocket, and it's like having a computer with me all the time. I use it to take notes in meetings. I can write articles, and even used it once to write a book.The keyboard on this page uses radio waves to communicate with the Palm. The model 3169WW uses an infrared beam.And a cool thing is that either of these keyboards really impress my friends. I get comments like, "amazing!", "where'd you get that?" I love it.Installation was straightforward and took about 3 minutes. The keyboard is responsive and almost full-sized. On my desktop computer, the q to p keys span 7 1/4 inches. On this keyboard, they span 7 inches. One gripe: I don't like the question mark/slash to the right of the shift key. I can never get used to that position.Spend the extra $15 and get this keyboard instead of the 3169WW--it will last longer and be more useful. Palm 3169WWZ Universal Wireless Keyboard ### ⭐⭐⭐ great keyboard, but not very durable *by C***M on Reviewed in the United States on 7 July 2009* This keyboard functions wonderfully- it's full size, easy to use (with the exception of the question mark being in a weird spot), and very portable. It's comfortable, and I never feel like I'm straining to type on it. It's a great conversation piece, and I use it for business with my Q1U ELXP Ultra Mobile Tablet PC. Everyone is impressed by the 'technology'.I've also used this with its intended companion, a Palm Treo 700p. I've also used this with a regular desktop PC with a bluetooth dongle. I've had no problem connecting the keyboard with any computer or handheld with bluetooth.So here's the not so good news. I'm on my 3rd keyboard. The first one lasted 8 months. It held up really well, then on a business trip it seems to have broken somewhere through the airport or during the flight. the hinge broke and so when the keyboard unfolded, it unhinged.I purchased a second one immediately. I blamed myself for being careless and not packing it properly in my laptop bag. The second one arrived and I began using it immediately. It traveled with me for 6 months, then again, on a flight to TX it broke on me. The hinge was crushed.So, stubborn as I am, and the fact that I really like how compact and easy to use this thing is, I bought a 3rd one. It's been 2 months, so far, so good.
