However, if you have computer monitors it will not retain connected state. Your computer will think you unplugged your monitor. Windows on the shared monitor will switch back to the main screen. A: Summary: If you want to display to two screens at one time, then this isn't the right device for that.

I think that depends on 2 things; first, if you're asking if you can use it to show one screen on two displays, then no. This splitter acts like a bridge for a single input or output to "split" what you are doing. In the case of splitting an input, which is what I believe you're trying to do, this splitter would only show to one screen at a time. So, you could put two displays on it, but only one display will be active at a time; second, I believe it also depends on your laptop. So long as your laptop allows for it to cast it's display to another display, then this will still do that for you, but you may as well just get a single, longer HDMI cable and stick to one display.
