Good product, but the plug prevents using two in one outlet, so you may need an extension
I own a number of Kasa products (like bulbs and smart plugs) and they've worked out well for me. They've been a great value, for some very useful applications. This Kasa Outdoor Plug is also working very well. It's easy to use on my network and with the app. My only small issue with the product is the rigid 90 degree plug, which prevents two Smart Plugs from easily being used in one outlet. (For example, for two different strings of lights that you want to time differently, like Christmas lights and patio lights.) The 90 degree plug is probably fine if you're using just one, or need it to fit behind a cabinet or something. But as this is a 3-prong outlet, both plugs would need to be oriented the same way in the outlet, and that's not possible. So I need to add another short extension to use both Smart Plugs. A plug that came straight out from the outlet would avoid that. (I'm a huge fan of 90 degree plug designs for indoor use, it is so often helpful.) Anyway, if you're planning to put two in one outlet, plan ahead and get a short extension as well. I like that this is designed to go up to 15 amps. Though I doubt I'll ever use it for high-wattage loads, it's a good safety measure, in case someone who doesn't know plugs something into this Smart Plug. Having good wi-fi network coverage surely helps, though with the small amount of data infrequently transmitted they work well over reasonably long distances. I make a point of attaching all smart devices to the guest network for security reasons.

Perfect for Our Porch Lights – Easy to Use and Reliable
This smart plug has been a game changer for our “party lights” on the screened-in porch. We can set timers, turn the lights on and off remotely, and never have to worry about resetting a traditional timer if the power goes out. Setup with Alexa was quick and easy, and it’s been working flawlessly ever since. The app is straightforward, the connection has been solid, and the weather-resistant design gives peace of mind outdoors. Overall, it’s reliable, convenient, and exactly what we needed. Highly recommended if you want simple smart control for your outdoor lights or other devices!

Great, Great Product
I am so happy with this product. I purchased outdoor smart plugs from another manufacturer. They will hard to pair & connect to my router and the app never worked correctly--so I've returned them. The Kasa Outdoor Smart Plugs immediately connected to my router. The Kasa App works perfectly and could not have been easier to program. And more importantly, everything works as they should! Note that I have other Kasa products and they also work great.

Kasa Good
Product: Kasa / TP-Link Outdoor Smart Plug, single outlet, model KP401 Gist: overall I like it and would get it again although I'd actually get the one with 2 plugs instead Good: Kasa Smart app works good, the Kasa/TP-Link products are good quality and good function with the Kasa App or the Alexa App and Echo devices, actual setup of the plug was very simple and easy - just select it in the Kasa app and then go into Alexa and it already has it ready to go without even doing anything. Not so good: you have to have the Kasa Smart App on your phone, you need a username and password, the unit is not waterproof - it is weather proof - that means no direct water contact I'm pretty sure. It is designed to be plugged into the outlet and for the unit to hang down by the cord about 7 inches with the actual socket facing the bottom. That way rain will not enter, just run off the sides. Just keep that in mind when determining if this style plug will fit into your scenario. Details: My first smart plug was a Kasa/TP-Link product that I purchased off Amazon in 2017 and in 2024 it is still operating perfectly with Alexa/Echo so I expect this item will also last a few years. Since I already had a Kasa account setup in 2017 all I had to do was login and add this new device. Well, I haven't accessed that account since 2017 and haven't had the Kasa app on my phones since then either. I've just been using the Echo devices to control my Kasa devices ever since initial setup years ago. So here is the process for me to setup this device: First: Like most smart devices you need the 2.4 GHZ band of your internet router to be active along with the 5 GHZ all the time. 1. download the Kasa Smart App onto my phone (I ditched Apple so I use the Android version now) 2. open the Kasa App - it will want a login before anything else can be done. If you have an existing account and don't know your username or password then just click recover option and it will send a link to your email it has on file. Use the link to reset the password. I actually had my password written down but I think since its been years since I logged in it was disabled and that's why I had to do the reset. 3. After you login to the app, just click the plus sign for add device and scroll through the types to select your Outdoor Plug and then the KP401. 4. Assign a group or routine in the Kasa App if you want 5. Once you're done with the Kasa app if you go into the Alexa app it should be already setup and ready to use. I didn't give it 5 stars because everything can always be better and I think the amount of cord this hangs by should be shorter. For some reason they didn't think so. It works well but looks a little clunky in my patio scenario.

Easily schedule times, app is great, no issues.
I've purchased a few of these over the years to manage outdoor lights at my house and my AirBnB. They are super easy to connect to with the Kasa app and I can easily schedule variable times like 30 minutes before or after sunset to turn lights on dynamically and then have them turn off at midnight. It saves me the hassle of manually setting timers as I can do it from the phone and with one click I can easily turn lights off and on manually from my phone. Saves on electricity. Have had no failures or issues. Response is instantaneous when I turn on or off with the app.

I use this smart plug to control my PC remotely through my phone, and it has worked reliably so far. It integrates well with Home Assistant, allowing me to set up automation to turn my PC on or off when needed. The form factor is particularly useful because the compact design doesn’t interfere with cable management under my desk. Overall, it’s been a practical addition to my setup, and I’ve had no major issues with it.

I've had the Kasa Smart Outdoor Smart Plug by TP-Link for almost two years now, and it's nothing short of exceptional. Even in extreme conditions with temperatures as low as -30 degrees, it continues to work flawlessly. This smart plug has been a game-changer for my outdoor appliances and lighting. The setup was a breeze, thanks to TP-Link's user-friendly app, which also offers convenient scheduling and remote control options. It has allowed me to automate my outdoor lighting and decorations effortlessly. What truly sets this smart plug apart is its durability. With temperatures plummeting to -30 degrees, I had concerns about whether it would withstand the harsh winter weather. To my pleasant surprise, it has not skipped a beat. Rain, snow, or freezing cold, it keeps on working without a hitch.
