How to Teach Your Baby Math (The Gentle Revolution Series) Review: I love this program! - I love all the Glenn Doman books and have used them with varying degrees with all my children. We are now into the second generation. I attended the course at the Institute and am a firm believer that it does make a difference. My kids are very well adjusted and extremely accomplished and people always ask how I raised such smart, well adjusted children. Did I do everything as those who participate in the Institute did. NO! I have a very busy career, am a community volunteer, wife, & daughter to aging parents! I did what I could, and made it fun for all of us. People thought I was nuts at the time so I seldom talked about the program but enjoyed seeing the results. When my daughter was in ninth grade and took European history, she could name all the European painters without studying them. She was amazed! She kept asking, "Mom how do I know this?" I confess, I love art and spent a great deal of time making cards on the great artist when she was little. I am an interior designer. I believe her brain stored this information until she needed it. Today, this child is working on her M.D./PhD in neuroscience. I wasn't as good with the math as I probably should have been. It was difficult for me. So my kids are ok in math, not great. I just did what I could...Recently, I read in a best seller business book that Asians teach their children math in the same way Mr. Doman suggests in this book. Regardless if you choose to believe in this program or not, I encourage you to make learning fun for your little ones.I believe babies are sponges and love to learn and the connection between you and your baby is rewarding! We are now teaching this to our second generation. Review: Excellent book! - Using this book, it really IS possible to teach a 1 or 2 yr old to understand numbers, do addition, subtraction, multiplication and division equations, understand greater than and less than and even a simple algebra equation like 1 + y = 9. Simply amazing and will give your child a huge advantage in life.

It works!! Kids love it
Awesome....Kids are sponges. This teaches you precisely how to help your child learn math as far as you want to take them(add, sub, mult, square roots, ect.) There is no limit on age or when to begin. It is fun, focused and accomplished in just seconds or a couple minutes a day!! No JOKE. I used it with my babies and toddlers. It's easy because it teaches you how the child's developing mind learns and then tells you how to use these simple concepts to teach them. They loved it. Us moms love it because it works and they love it!!

A nice book to read (but why not borrow it?)
I rate this 5 stars not because it's extremely well written, or because I followed it perfectly and got great results but instead 1) because I think it has some valuable concepts to understand if you really want to teach your baby math. Like the difference between teaching counting and teaching quantity and 2) I think it is very helpful with understanding the *potential* your baby has to understand math. Really. You aren't going to get your baby to understand math extremely well unless you understand that it's even possible. This book can help convince you of that. :) And 3) Respect for the authors' efforts in researching and disseminating the topic.

Thanks
I am very gratefull for this superb contribution, and overall be part of my child education, I read the entire book with joyous, I notice that when you explain something usually use He, him, instead of She or her, maybe should be better use both.

Amazing chalenge!!!
BUT!!! There are certain conditions you must have. First - your baby doesn't mind to see your flash cards at least 15 times a day (not to forget that every time she is supposed to be happy about it!). In case you teach your baby a few programs, like math, reading, ect., you should be busy with the cards every 15 min. 'Coze studying just one program takes time and accordingly the Doman's statement the older the baby is the harder to teach her. Second - you are staying home mother with lots of free time (to prepare the materials and to prepare the way you show those flash cards) PLUS you have a supportive husband (which is not our case) So, basically, even if this method is extremely good for the kid's development, in some cases it simply can't be used.

Awesome book, very similar to
Awesome book, very similar to."teach you baby to read" so you can skin this and just get to the math specific chapters of you have already read the other one. I bought the flashcards from their website rather than making my own. Very Happy I did that. My son is loving it and I believe he is learning a lot. Too young to tto but at least it holds his attention.

The system for teaching math begins by teaching quantity. The method uses flash cards having different numbers of red dots. You can make the dot flashcards yourself. You say the quantity when the card is held up. From quantity, you move to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The system is easy and makes sense. Regardless of what method you use, the book points out, correctly, that your little one is going to learn. The key is begin early, teach often and most importantly, have fun. An important point you should be aware of is that a baby has the ability to discern quantity by sight. For examples, a baby can see at once 50 dots on a flash card and know there are 50 dots on it. This ability is lost by the time a child enters school. You little one will either learn to use it or will lose it. Good luck and have fun!

my daughter is 1 year old now and i believe in early learning of kids. though opinions vary on this matter so i have turned to experts and in the pursuit i bought this book too I liked what is written of authors vast research and experience and itinspires to follow the ideas he mentioned. Now result of such actions can be checked with time only but the book gives a sincere reading on development of a human say childs mind and its endless possibilities if exposed to. It is a good read for anyone whose child has special needs
