The rotary cutters are neve sold "by the yard". **Q: Why does it require a 12 volt battery?** A: It doesn't require a 12 volt battery. I've had mine for years and it has never required a battery. It works like any other rotary cutter. **Q: Can this cut chipboard?** A: I would not recommend this. Its design and purpose is for cutting fabric.
