Does this work for iPhone 12 Pro Max?

Absolutely, the phone acts on its own as you record or photograph your work you don’t have to plug it into the lamp at all. It will work with any phone that has a camera feature.

My ring light goes off after a few minutes. It's plugged in. Does it have to be charged to stay on?

It will not operate, unless it is plugged in, but you might want to adjust the timing mechanism, when you look at the little control panel underneath the base of the lamp it has a series of little round dots with numbers in them. The little alarm clock on the right such those, so that it will go off automatically at some point that you choose. I like the fact that he remembers your time when you turn the lamp back on. I keep mine generally in the six hour zone because that’s about as long as I ever work on something, you may have it on the three hour default.

How do i make an overhead video without the bottom plate showing up in the shot?

There’s two things that I can think of that would handle that. 1. Extend the arm for the camera/phone out as far as it will go and then move your whole project away from the stem and base. 2. Or you could get a large white surface and put it up to the base of the pole that is attached to the black plate. That would cover up everything up to the lamp stand pole. 3. If neither of those things work, you can try directing your camera farther out from the lamp base, but you’ll need to watch out for how much excuse the Photography angle. I think you’re just gonna have to monkey around with a little bit to find the right solution. Good luck.
