I believe I have now found it's perfect use; attached to my backpack shoulder strap. I carry 32oz widemouth Nalgene bottles and recently switched to a different day pack that had 2 bottle pockets, but I couldn't reach them without stopping and taking my pack off. This is not ideal for proper hydration. My solution was to attach one of these to my pack's shoulder strap. I just used a couple plastic zip ties to connect it to the daisy chain loops. It works very well. I tried it out yesterday for the first time and the only issue I had was putting the bottle back in; the opening is a little snug on the widemouth bottle. I fixed that by stretching it a little bit. I have both a camo and a black one, the camo one was snug and the black one is perfect, allowing the bottle to slide in easily. One of the useful features is that when you don't need it you can fold it up and close it to take up very little space. It's also very lightweight. The only cons is that there were some threads sticking out and the carabineer is so cheap that it's practically useless.
