High Torque 12888 Clock Movement Mechanism with 3 Pairs of Hands, Silent Sweep Quartz Clock Motor Kit for Clock Repair DIY Replacement (Total Shaft Length 5/8 in, Black)

I bought this clock motor kit to restore a vintage GE electric clock model 2912, whose original AC motor was beyond repair. So far so good... the motor is working well and keeping perfect time, though it's been running for only a day. I recreated the original clock hands using black paper to keep them light weight, and attached the paper hands to the red aluminum hands that come with the kit. The kit comes with a brass button that attaches to the second hand pin on the movement, in case you don't want to use one of the second hands that come with the kit. The stem of this button fit perfectly into the hole in original second hand from the GE clock, which is perfectly balanced and puts no strain on the new motor. The continuous sweep movement perfectly replicates the smooth second hand movement of the original AC motor. The clock looks and moves exactly as it did originally, and it's actually nice that it doesn't have to be plugged in to a wall outlet. Overall, I'm happy with the results. Hopefully it will hold up over time!

Fora large clock, the high torque movement is a good idea to drive the large hands. So far it works great. Nice packaging. Nice selection of hands.

Shoulda bought this sooner but finally did and my goodness for a basic movement it is the most silent clock I have ever had! I was worried this item was going to make that distinct ticking noise. I will probably buy a few more n replace all the ticking annoying clocks now!

I was about to return this because it would run for about 10 minutes then stop, when first installed. This occurred repeatedly. Suddenly it stopped stopping for no apparent reason, and has been running ever since. Makes no sense. (It was not the battery or contacts that was the problem.)
