The US will spray forests sometimes to eradicate certain bugs and diseases.  How do we know this has not happened to these trees?

Good question! When you’re in a public forest, it’s hard to tell what’s been sprayed and what hasn’t—so for that reason, when we were starting out we decided to find a piece of private land with tons of eastern white pines growing wildly. Luckily for us, in the Hudson Valley region of upstate New York, there is a lot of wild white pines on private land. So we met a bunch of people and eventually came to an agreement with someone who owns a ranch upstate with thousands of acres of white pine that has never been touched. It’s where we source 100% of our pine, and it makes us feel confident that every bag we sell is not only coming from wild Eastern White Pine trees, but that they are from trees that have never been fertilized, sprayed, or treated with anything. What are the teabags made of?  Do they contain any plastics?

Hey there, great question! We personally try to avoid plastics and micro plastics in everything we consume, and our tea was the same. So we spent a lot of time looking around at different options, and eventually we found a tea bag made out of a biodegradable mesh. What’s cool about this material is that the mesh is made from a natural plant starch! They found that if you heat the plant starch a certain way, it becomes a good consistency to hold tea. So there’s no chemicals or artificial things or plastic involved. Hope that helps!

Are the needles heated and are bags organic as well?

We dehydrate the needles after picking them for two reasons: one, it locks in the nutrients. And two, it prevents the needles from getting moldy over time.

Finally, regarding the bags, yes, we pay more to ensure that all of our bags and pouches are organic, made only with natural materials, and are made by American companies.
