Human beings are the 'all-rounders' of the natural world โ while they aren't naturally the quickest, biggest or strongest creatures, they can achieve more amazing physical feats than any other animal.Nowhere is this ability more pronounced than in sporting performance, the ideal area for studying the mechanics of a human โ our biomechanics. But all too often the study of sports biomechanics can become bogged down in pure mathematics, tables and graphs that bear little resemblance to what you see on the field of play.In this comprehensively revised third edition of bestselling Sports Biomechanics, Professor Anthony Blazevich answers real-world questions using easily accessible language and fully updated, clear and concise diagrams. Each chapter is devoted to a single area of the subject and details scientific underpinnings of sports performance; this edition features a new chapter on human gait (walking and running) as well as new information on the latest topics in sport biomechanics. An absolutely essential resource for any student, athlete or fitness professional involved in the field of sports biomechanics. Review: Five Stars - Book delivered as promised and in great condition! I used it for my class and did well. Review: Written so the reader can learn easier. But I found a mathematical error. - The book is written in a way for the reader to better understand the book by explaining terminology as you go and highlighting vital key points to remember. But it can be quite intimidating for an absolute beginner. But take your time, breaks and keep pushing through. It has an appendix and glossary to touch-up or re-learn maths basics or terminology. The book finishes off with quizes to improve your knowledge โ as Bloomsbury does, but I found that the quizes were quite difficult at the of the whole book as apposed to after each chapter (like in other Bloosmbury books). As a complex subject as this one, I think it should come after each chapter because of how heavy it can feel reading it at times. That way the knowledge is still quite relevant. I forgot some things. It's a lot to take in. I found a mathematical error: (I got it reviewed by a friend-of-a-friend that's an astrophysics student. They said its incorrect). Page: 249, Line: 30-31, Equation: " 6 รท (2 + 4) ร 6 = 0 ". " (that is, 2 + 4 = 6 and 6 รท 0 x 6 = 0) ". The answer is supposed to be (6) according to myself, a calculator and an astrophysics student.
