Super sharp and well made.
I use these scissors in the kitchen with my left hand since my right hand is useless after a stroke. I am able to open bags of frozen food or things like bags of rice and dry beans without making a big mess from ripping the bags open with my teeth. I like the fact these scissors are so well made instead of the flimsy excuse for scissors you usually find. Rust free with stainless steel construction these scissors effortlessly cut through cloth, plastic bags, and paper, washable too, plus they come with a protective cover. I felt like this was money well spent on a quality product which I will keep and use for years.

Faulty Design
Unfortunately, while the scissors' handles are, indeed, left-handed, the blades are not. I was completely unable to cut anything. I read reviews of Gingher left-handed scissors not working but trusting their reputation and my previous experience, I went ahead and bought them. Clearly, they weren't tested with someone's left hand. On the other hand (no pun intended) I bought another brand - with some trepidation - at a lower price point, and they work perfectly, exactly as they should. I'm very disappointed that whoever bought the Gingher brand didn't continue with the traditional Gingher craftsmanship, or at least use their patterns or molds or whatever. because once a workable design is created it seems to me that the rest comes down to sizing and finishes. But maybe I am wrong; I'm not a tool-maker, but even so I was able to figure out what it was that prevented the scissors from working. Shouldn't the manufacturer also be able to so?

I thought "how much better could a pair of scissors be?"
I didn't think there would be such a difference. I have been using friskers left handed version for a while which was my upgrade from the cheap ones that come in a multi-pack of different sizes from the craft store. I really didn't see much of a difference between the cheapy ones and the friskers. I kind of figured these would be the same story. It had been a few years though and I was upgrading to a new sewing machine and decided to take the chance on these. I figured they would never get any lower then around the $20 mark that amazon was asking since everywhere else they are around $40-$50. I am so glad I took the chance. They don't lie when they say these cut through fabric like butter. Someone in one of the reviews said they were thinner and lighter then they used to make them. I'm not sure if that's true since I'm new to them but I can say they are pretty heavy. I really wouldn't want these to be any heavier. They are also a little stiff but I think that will work it's way out over time. The only thing I don't like about these is that the plastic sheath really sucks. It doesn't really fit them well. It is overly tight and feels like you are having to gouge them into the plastic in order to just partially put them in it. I was kind of hoping it would come in a metal tin too like they usually do in the fabric store but it didn't. Not really a big deal. I can't even honestly remove a star over it. These are great and everyone who works with fabric should splurge a little to own a pair. Don't even mess with the cheap ones. All of mine will now be down graded to regular household uses.

Top quality shears built for a southpaw, especially the Italian made
The older I get the more appreciative I get of high quality, well made items that will last a lifetime. After using cheap scissors with the plastic handles that are ubiquitous for years and getting frustrated with how poorly they worked, I looked at my moms 40 year old forged Westcott scissors I began looking for forged scissors for my cutting needs and most that came up were dress makers shears, especially the ones that were made for left handed varieties. Being a southpaw, I tired of achy blistery hands from dastardly right handed shears, I bought these quality instruments, 2 of them to be exact, and another 2 after the first 2 arrived and delighted me in every way (when they were offered at a substantial discount). One thing I will say is that the first 2 that arrived were made in Mexico, and the second 2 were made in Italy. Although the 2 from Mexico were finely made cutting instruments, the Italian ones were heavier and felt more substantial in my hand, and just seemed of better fit and finish...possibly biased due to my Italian heritage, so sue me. Long story short, I have used these to cut paper, cardboard, string, 550 cord, plants, denim, plastic, and 8-10 ounce leather, and they have held up and retained their edge wonderfully. Buy these and they will be the last pair of shears you need, as long as you don't lose them or your southpaw friends don't jack them....

Great Scissors - Sharp and Well Balanced
These are for my grandchild because when you are left handed crafts and sewing can be not only difficult but painful. I'm hoping the larger size won't be an obstacle and she will have them for many years. Left handed sewing scissors can be very expensive and these were a great price. The real deal in scissors
Wow! I've never had a decent pair of dressmaking scissors before, and certainly not a left-handed pair. These, as they say, are the real deal. No more rings on my left thumb where an annoyingly shaped hole is designed for right-handers. These scissors are sharp and strong. Although not light, they are well balanced so there is no heaviness to them. These are the ideal size for cutting fabric or even for snipping yarn ends. I just have to hold myself back from using them on paper too or I will mess them up for cutting fabric. Absolutely delighted and well worth the wait for them to come from the States. And by the way, I got a nice plastic cover to protect the cutting end of the scissors, which was a bonus.

Beautiful quality and craftsmanship. No cramping or hand fatigue!
All the beautifully razor sharp quality you'd expect from Gingher/Fiskars tailor's shears, but also left handed! I've been sewing my whole life but since my mother and sisters are all righties I just had to suffer the hand cramps and pain of using right handed shears. I get none of that when I use these. No cramping. No pain from the scissors cutting into my hands. They sit nicely in the hand and fatigue takes much longer to set in. These shears are razor sharp and cut through even heavy suiting fabric like butter. They come with a sheath to keep the blades closed and safe when not in use as well. Wishing now that I had a pair of these 20 years ago, but knowing the quality that comes from Gingher / Fiskars I also know that 20 years from now I'll still be singing this same pair's praises.

Cuts smoothly.
The way these scissors cut is excellent. The material just falls aside and even the very tip cuts perfectly.
