This replaced my clock-radio
I wanted something that isn't a smart phone for my alarm clock, that is small/portable, and that plays MP3s for the hour I'm getting ready in the morning. Bluetooth support a big plus. This little device has fit that need perfectly: I keep a pair of wired computer speakers in our bedroom. At night they plug into this device (which is also plugged in so it's fully charged the next day). In the morning, after I turn off the alarm I typically select some music to help wake and start the day. When I'm ready to move from bedroom to anywhere-else, I switch on my battery-powered portable stereo wireless bluetooth speakers. ($15 at Ace Hardware with sound more like $40 speakers.) The music automatically switches to these and I move those with me as I start my day. Here is why this device's specific features work well for me as a replacement clock-radio: * It's an Android (based on 1.x or something really old but I don't care) but without the Play Store. Since I deliberately wanted something limited this was a feature, not a bug and I immediately knew how to use it. * It has the stock Android clock application with its nice flexible alarm clock application. * The MP3 player is quirky but once I got used to it I found I like it a lot. It's not any of the stock Android MP3 player applications but a third-party app. As other reviewers have noted, it works well for collections organized by folder. Note that you'll have to go hunting for a setting that turns this feature on. It's apparently licensed demoware but the vendor didn't turn the nagware banner off. That's annoying. And because (again) the Play Store isn't available, there's no way to even pay to turn it off. I hope they fix that in a future version of this product. * The FM radio works well. I don't use it a lot but it's a really nice bonus to have it and I've gotten good reception out of it. (You have to have speakers or headphones plugged in to use it.) * The sound quality is very good for the price, both over Bluetooth and via the headphone output. * The built-in speaker is usable as an alarm clock, countdown timer, or for listening to lectures. Its quality is painful for listening to music. * I've never fully discharged the battery, even with playing constantly over Bluetooth for somewhere between three and four hours. I'm really happy with the battery life for my purposes. Some overall thoughts: * I like that this setup is completely modular. If a speaker system fails I can replace it independently to everything else, etc. * I don't use the web browser or video feature at all. It's really not designed for that use. But the settings allow you to hide applications you don't want to access from the home screen and I use this to remove icons for these applications. I really like this feature. * At around $50, I didn't expect high-end phone build quality so I wasn't disappointed that the device is plastic. But it has held up fine for my use. And plastic doesn't crack like phone screens can. It does need a wipe from time to time with one of my leftover lens cloths (from an old pair of glasses) to remove fingerprints. * The clock application doesn't have any setting to keep the display on when the device is plugged in. This would be nice, but it's hardly a deal-breaker. The clock and alarm are still reliable and that's what counts. Overall, except for the nagware banner I can't remove I couldn't be more delighted.

Exceeded Expectation and very satisfied with the Q5
The Q5 player is by far the best one I’ve tried in the past few weeks and spent countless hours trying to make the others work as described and even reached out to their technical support and still couldn’t get them to work. I went through several models and they either did not work or fell short of my expectations. Prior to getting the Q5 I had the older model Q3 and the vendor was very accommodating and allowed me to return the Q3 and exchange it for the Q5 and glad I did as it is the newer model and comes with a Web browser that allows you to watch YouTube videos, check emails and so forth. The Q5 also has a faster processor, an FM radio which I haven’t tried, and am very happy with it. I currently have a 256gb SD card in it and have about 90gb of music, 60gb of pictures and another 50 to 60gb of videos and movies. I originally had trouble loading songs, pictures, and videos on it from my iMac as the file transfer for this model program for iMacs called Open MTP is not very stable. And for some reason the SD cards I purchased didn’t show up on either my iMac or Windows HP laptop, so could not for the life of me copy files from iMac directly to the SD card. So here is what I had to do. I first had to copy my files to a USB thumb drive from my iMac to the HP laptop, then plugged in the Q5 to the Windows laptop and using Explorer, was able to copy all the data to the Q5. The copy process took a while as altogether was almost 200gb. Overall this MP3/4 player is hands down the best one out there and well worth the $45 I’ve spent on a new “toy.” I’ve had iPhones since the series 3 and now have the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max and even that doesn’t compare to the capabilities of the Q5. I only have 64gb on the 11 Pro Max and couldn’t find an easy way to transfer all my music and videos to it plus the Q5 has many nice features such as an equalizer, sorting capabilities such as song, artist, albums, etc. I haven’t had it long enough to see how many hours the battery would last but it does have a quick charger and takes only about an hour to get a full charge. I’ve been a Amazon Prime Member for over 15 years and rarely post reviews but the Q5 is worth writing this and their customer service is very respectful and responsive, I felt compelled to write my very positive experience with this product. It’s a good thing I still had an old HP Windows Laptop as not sure if I could make it work without it. Overall, I am extremely satisfied and happy with this MP3/MP4 player, Web browser, photo viewer and even allows to edit pictures. The sound quality using AirPods is also amazing and very rich and the built- in equalizer allows you to make adjustments according to your liking. If you’re looking for the best value in a MP3 player – this is worth every penny and it will support up to a 512gb SD card which is a lot cheaper then getting an iPhone with that much capacity. Time will tell how stable this player will hold up. I’ve had it only a week and so far it’s lived up to my expectations and then some.

This player is terrible and a waste of money!
The first player I bought worked okay using the hibymusic player on it however one day it was frozen. It would not shut off or anything just said to wait for the track or close it out but I could do nothing so I sent it back. This time around they sent me a micro sd card which did not work was corrupted so I had to use a different one. The player does not recognize the micro sd card all the time sometimes it takes forever just to load the files such as mp3s on it. I can go into the hiby music player and it has loaded some songs i put on the device itself. But if I go into files to find my sd card ill load a song and it will not play it just freezes. I want to be able to play songs off the card because I have more music then what the player can store truthfully. But the device freezes and has trouble locating songs it will not work in the files when you go onto the card to play any song. This is frustrating and most likely ill be making a second return of the item this week and buying a player of another brand. I cant be hassled to waste time loading the card etc and fussing with it just to listen to music especially if I am driving or at work. I mainly use the mp3 player for my bluetooth sterio in my truck so the last thing I need is the player in waiting mode for hours, frozen or just incapable of reading music from the micro sdcard this is really bad. They need to get it fixed or pull the item off the shelves sure its fine if you want to put fifty songs on it but put a couple thousand and this becomes a paperweight!

Once it got working it's a nice little product
Bought this hoping this would be a nice replacement for my iPod that's missing. Unit looks and feels nice but I can't get the device to show on Windows 11. Two different machines, different cables, software/driver hacks no help. It's useless regardless of how nice it looks. Would NOT buy if I were you. Edit/Update 4/28/23 Ok, so after seeing this review - the seller contacted me and offered to send a new unit. I told them I had already returned it and got a different one. They sent me a new one - got it in a couple of days. Their CS dept is solid. They get a 5 stars on this one!!!! Now onto some pros marred only by 2 cons 1. Getting this thing to get recognized by windows is tricky. I had already done alot of searching and tried troubleshooting everything I found to no avail before I returned it. The new one was doing like the first right out of the box. After asking, they emailed me a couple of options to try (CS did) and still no go. Frustrated, I quit troubleshooting. I came back to it about 3 days later and somehow "magically" it got recognized. But big thing - I got the device working and the unit is really slick Give it a 4 since I had so much trouble getting it to be recognized and I can't tell what really worked. 2. Playlists: Love the fact that you can create as many playlist you want. Playlists are a biggie to me. Unfortunately, I've been unable to import any playlists from computer - but it's pretty fast and easy to make your own on the device. This isn't perfect but good enough - maybe I'll dig further into why it's not recognizing my m3u files. Give it a 4 3. Radio: actually works with the supplied wired ear buds. It wasn't a biggie but of the ones I've seen this one does a really good job of picking up signal. 5 4. Memory/Storage: This is about the only real downside to the unit. I wish it had at least 2x the storage before the need to start using cards. Still all in all 4 on this as it's been my experience that most devices are hampered in how it operates on reading from cards. Just look at anything that uses them and you'll see tons of people pointing out how troublesome they can be. Since I have a collection over 500 gigs of mp3 files collected over the years - I will find out soon what limitations arise. 5. GUI interface - feels like using any phone nowadays. Touch screen with just two buttons on the bottom of the screen. Me likey! 5 6 Bluetooth: This thing has paired with everything I've tried to pair it with, and done it quickly and hassle-free. This one exceeded expectations where the others I've tried have failed miserably. 5 7 Audio: It's good but I think could be better. One annoying thing I've found is that connecting it via bluetooth (specifically in my car) is that volume control is left up to the mp3 player. Not the car's stereo. Point is that it's not loud enough for me. Street noise drowns it out. Bummer. Haven't used it with headphones or external speakers just yet. I do know that the ear buds that come with it aren't all that great - but wasn't really planning to use them all that much anyway. Built-in speaker is okay, just slightly better than listening on your phone. (no surprise there) 3.5 All in all this is a nice little unit - and at the price point it's a good deal. YMMV but this does what I need. Soon I'll be testing it out when mowing the lawn and I hope it's gonna be sufficient output to hear it

FINALLY A GREAT MP3 PLAYER TO RIVAL THE iPOD
I've been trying to find a good, solid easy to use mp3/mp4 player for several years to replace my last iPod and have bought 3 or 4 prior to this but one by one each failed miserably being far short of acceptable. Usually it's the GUI typically with no shortcut to get back to the home screen after you've wandered in the menu, not showing full titles of songs due to low-res graphics so you have to guess which version you're playing from the list (and many times even when you do play it you still can't tell) among many other shortcomings. For those reasons I was reticent to buy another but decided to pull the trigger one more time and FINALLY I found this little Timmkoo player gem which covers all the bases. Quick response, great graphics, easy to use menus (probably due to it being an Android-based system), built-in speaker and to boot the sound quality is great AND YOU CAN ACTUALLY READ MOST OF THE SONG TITLES! Even the earphones they give you are fantastic! The only shortcoming is only 8GB internal memory but they give you a 64GB card which is more than sufficient to load all the music, pictures, videos, e-books and anything else digital you might want to take with you which more than makes up for that. IF YOU WANT A GREAT MP3, PICTURE, VIDEO, E-BOOK PLAYER WITH BUILT IN RADIO TO BOOT (THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY READ) BUY THIS MACHINE, YOU'LL LOVE IT LIKE I DO. IT'S THE FIRST ONE THAT RIVALS THE APPLE iPOD IN QUALITY AND AT $41 IT WON'T BREAK THE BANK!

The program that plays music is not compatble with car USB
The player overall is cute, pretty sturdy, sounds good with headphones, close to an iPod in set up with the touch screen. The screen seems pretty vivid and easy to read. Transferring music content from computer to player using USB is simple click and drag. It can display album artwork and lyrics. I used the 'find lyrics' method for most of the songs and saved those. I haven't used the e-reader since the screen is a bit small to try to read a book from. While most of the apps on it are 'cool', I have never needed them, so it is kind of bloated in my opinion. I bought this to replace another player that died on me. My complaints about this one is the car I have will not recognize the player program when connected by the USB port. It will play by bluetooth, but has some 'issues'......If you have the player turned on then start the car, the song that is playing will be displayed on the car's screen. Just the title, no album artwork or artist. When it switches to the next song, the title on the car screen does not switch... it stayes with the first song that was played. If you turn the player on after the car is started, it will change display with the songs. ... Unless you use the car to skip to the next song, or use the car to 'pause' the music. If there was a way to download the android car app to the player, I believe it would sync everything better...but while you can surf the web on the player, you cannot add any apps to it. The player is fine....but if you like seeing the artwork, being able to know the song that is playing and stuff in the car, you should probably go with a different gadget.

Super happy with this product
I have a ton of CDs loaded on my old classic iPod 160gb, which is starting to break down. I needed a replacement and found this player that supports m4A and up to 512 SD card. It looked the best and not super expensive, so I got it. The manual could use a little more better instructions but it was easy to download music and once I figured out how to navigate the player, I found this player better than expected. So I decided to get one for my husband since he likes to listen to music when he goes to sleep but uses his phone, which will eventually wear the battery sooner. I got the item and it didn't work. I ended up contacting customer service, we did a few stuff and it was determined it was defective. They shipped a replacement right away, received it the next day, with a return label for the defect. The replacement worked great--it was odd that it uses a different music player app from what I have but it is also pretty easy to navigate. Very happy with this player and very happy that customer service worked fast on my replacement.

Defective batteries
This item is defective. We have had 3 of them, and all 3 have had issues with the battery pack expanding. They work great at first and after several months the battery puffs up and goes bad. The first time, we thought it was a fluke, but after the other 2 went bad, I think there is just something wrong with these batteries. Do not buy.

Works great for music and videos
I got this for my 7 year old daughter for Christmas, because we wanted something where she could have video on it if she wanted, and so far we’ve had it for about 4 months and it’s still going great. She loves it. The battery life lasts about 3 days with her regular use. We have a couple full length videos and a few shorter shows downloaded on it for her to watch when she’s on long drives, and she just loves that. It’s pretty easy to put music onto. One time I couldn’t figure out how to put a couple more songs onto it, and I googled it and came up with the answer. I had to “refresh” the music list or something. That was the only technical issue I’ve come up against. You can’t download any other apps besides what’s already on the device though, and it doesn’t have any games. Those are the only two downsides I can think of. She’s also been somewhat rough with it and the screen hasn’t cracked, and it’s still working well. Just a great little device.

Excellent and top-notch product.
I haven't written a review on Amazon for a good few years, but I really feel moved to write one now. I have had various mp3 players in the past. They can be very hit and miss in my experience. They usually have tiny screens, cumbersome controls and very un-user-friendly interfaces. I recently came-accross this one, and having bought it, I can say that it is absolutely superb. It has a super large HD touch screen, and if you have an android phone, you will find that it operates in exactly the same way. It's so easy to set-up and the controls and menus are simply laid-out and very intuitive to use. The sound reproduction is absolutely excellent. And if you want to tweak it to your own personal taste, then there is a built-in graphic equaliser which is surprisingly sophisticated! It has a tiny memory, so a micro SD card is pretty much essential. But one word of warning here, I bought the 512gb card which the makers recommend and the machine just will not cope with such a large memory. The whole thing froze and behaved most oddly until I took the card out. Someone else actually mentioned this in an earlier review, and I should have taken note and saved myself some money! I bought a memory card of about half that capacity and now it works like a dream. This is an excellent mp3 player, and I am really extremely pleased with it.

great product, tbh
i also have the older version, q3e by the way. i got the q5, even though a lot of reviewers said that they recieved the older model. i gave my older one to a friend, because i dont really need it. the player is great! the browser, as expected, isnt the best, but cant ask for too much. like it wont open some webs, which was expected. like, i cant use discord on the browser. but i can open amazon and youtube. the only thing is, youtube on the browser has the layout of a pc browser, so its like ur on a pc, but still works 100%. the fm radio has really good signals. it even has a feature where you can change a station but it changes it to the next station that has the least static. its really cool, and you can even record the fm radio! the music and video organization is great, so is ebook. definetly should buy as a phone without calling or texting or app store. a reviewer wrote a review with 1 star that said the browser doesnt work and wont open any pages at all. im pretty sure he forgot to connect to the wifi. also another reviewer wrote a 1 star review because you cant side load apps because its an old android. android 3.4 to be exact. but if you want an app store, might as well get a phone, you know?
