Is the middle part a mesh or is it plastic?

It’s a mesh and strong. It took my weight, close to 18 stone. It’s easier to get onto than a lilo.

Is it easy to lie flat in the water? Or will it sink in the middle and you end up sitting instead?

yes you can lay flat and tan your front but your torso will part be in the water which is lovely and cooling. I took 2 to Greece last year and everyone was using them in our pool, even got a disabled lady onto them on her front as it supported her so well. I have bought 2 new ones for this years holiday already

Can you use this in a Lazy spa / hot tub ?
