My floor outlet had a flimsy metal cover that was dented from being walked on. Installed this in under 1 min. The Metal is Very Sturdy, yes enough to walk on without damaging it. The cap is also heavy and screws in easily. Love the cap, because it will prevent stuff from falling down inside. Highly recommend and it is worth the price.

We had our floors replaced and when doing so, decided to replace our in-floor outlet covers. (Technically, "we" didn't decide to replace them. My wife threw one away because she figured it was too gross to put back. I got to find a replacement and this was as close as I could get.) First, I have no problems with the fit and finish of these covers. They look and feel brass. The covers are solid metal. Second, they're not made to cover a power outlet. They're meant as a cover for what appears to be an ethernet connection. Third, in a pinch, you can make them work as a power outlet cover. What I did was take the plastic insert out. With a dremel, I removed the inside of the circle. I kept the remainder of the insert as cover of sorts for the outlet. I removed the screws that held the inside of the outlet in place. (I'm sure you could re-use those, but I used the ones that came with this cover.) I placed the plastic insert over the outlet and used the supplied screws to fasten the insert to the outlet and the outlet to the box. This way I could use the plastic insert to attach the cover. (In my case, the attachment points for the old cover required screws that were more narrow than the ones supplied with this cover.) Once the outlet and insert were connected, I attached the plate. BE CAREFUL! The plastic insert's nuts, or attached fasteners, are simply pressed in. DO NOT PUSH DOWN ON THE SCREW AS YOU ATTACH THE FACE PLATE! Use a flat head screw driver and allow the twisting of the screw to seat the face plate. (On the first screw, I pushed down with a power drill. I popped the nut through the plastic and had to use gorilla tape to hold it in place as a repair. That worked... but I wouldn't recommend it.) In the end, these are a great $8 replacement for a part that'll cost you $39.99 at Lowe's or Menard's.

Somewhat hard to install with carpet but work great

While this appears to be a nice, quality item, the one that I received was not as pictured. It came with four screw holes, instead of two (as someone else had also mentioned in their review). So had I kept and installed this, there would have been two open holes through which dust, debris and moisture could collect, in addition to it looking kinda silly. While I could have gone out and bought a couple of extra brass screws and nuts to cover up the holes, it wasn't worth the extra cost and effort to me, so I returned the item.

I wanted to replace a very old and tarnished single outlet cover on the floor. This is the best option since Leviton does not sell just the brass cover plate. The product includes the plastic insert for (2) RJ45 network connections. This is no longer atteched to the brass cover, so you won't need to do any cutting as other reviewers have stated. Simply remove the screws holding your existing outlet cover, and install the replacement with the included screws. Everything looks great!

My floor outlet was discontinued by it's maker and parts were very hard to come by. This outlet was available so I thought I'd give it a try. I need something sturdy because it is currently in an area that gets a fair amount of traffic. I'm very happy with the purchase.
