Incredible
Update-8/1/2024: The CO2 tank finally exhausted on this, and I upgraded to a 20 pound tank. I still stand by my original review that this thing is amazing. However, saw it for a few days without the CO2 tank and, while it still works with only scent packets and catches mosquitoes, after I refilled the CO2 tank and reattached, it is crawling with mosquitoes. Totally worth the purchase. Original Review: I've tried everything in my backyard. Mosquito coils, foggers, and even buying targeted insecticides that are supposed to limit mosquito egg development. However, at the end of the day, unless I made sure that I was covered head to toe in high intensity mosquito repellent every time I walked in back, I would get destroyed by mosquitoes. Putting repellent on is fine, but if I would go outside and want to weed for 20 minutes and forget to Put on repellent , I would come back inside and be itchy. I've been looking at this thing for a year and the cost Had really put me off purchasing it. After another crazy spring here in New York, I decided just to bite the bullet and try this though. I'm totally blown away. When I first bought it, I only had the scent packet in it because I needed to wait to find a place where I could source CO2. Even with the scent packet, it caught a good deal of mosquitoes though. However, once I got CO2 attached to this and placed it properly, I haven't had a single bite in the week that I've had this installed. I pull out the bag every day to see how it's doing and the bottom third of it is just filled with mosquito corpses now. We have tiger mosquitoes and the other normal brown looking mosquitoes and I see both of them in here dead. Tips: 1) Place it properly. I have an extension cord running from an exterior outlet and I run this into a corner of my yard where it's hidden behind some foliage in a spot that's shady. 2) Just commit to buying the timer for it so that it's only pumping out CO2 at the most opportune times to target mosquito activity. That's pretty important to cut down on how many times you need to get the tank refilled. 3) just buy a 20 pound tank and figure out a way to have it be easily refilled. I think what I'm going to do is just have a delivery service that comes and picks up the tank every two months when it runs dry and give me a refilled one since I don't have a car and getting into a welding shop to have it refilled would be kind of a pain. Where I live in New York, the mosquito season is about four months. So using the regulator where you time it to come on only at very specific times when the mosquitoes are at their worst, I calculated that I'll spend about $160 a year to have the CO2 replaced. In the grand scheme of things when you think about having to constantly buy repellent, it seems like a worthwhile fixed cost. However, yes, if you live in an area where mosquito season is pretty much all the time, that might not work for everyone financially. For my situation though it's perfect. Yes. You'll need to commit to spending about 400 bucks for the machine itself, the CO2 regulator and your first filled 20 pound tank. However, if you can stomach that initial cost, I don't know of any better system that exists on the planet to keep your Backyard mosquito free . Some people have talked about taking out the bag of mosquitoes and putting it in the freezer to kill them periodically. I guess you could do this, but I don't really see the point. Once they get in here, they're completely trapped due to how the bag is designed (a cone arrangement that mosquitoes can't find their way out of once they're in) and if a mosquitoes trapped in here for two days, it dies on its own due to dehydration. I think it's likely big enough to just leave the bag in here all season and just empty out all the corpses at the end. Less maintenance too. Another thing. Zappers aren't a great technology to get rid of mosquitoes. Mosquitoes aren't attracted to light and bugs zappers kill a lot of other insects that I'm not interested in killing. This thing is super targeted, the only bugs that are trapped in here are mosquitoes. Buy this. You won't regret it. Completely sustainable and you don't have to use poison on your body and your yard to try and attempt to keep mosquitoes off of you. I'm not quite sure what the other reviews are talking about. If you follow the directions and run this thing the way it's supposed to run, you'll be able to live in normal life in your backyard again!

This thing works absolutely Amazing with the CO2!
I tried a few different things & this turned out to be the total solution. First I tried the propane tank mosquito magnets at $600. Because propane tanks are so easy to get anywhere. However the propane method caught very few mosquitos. My highly uneducated guess would be mosquitos really don't care for burnt propane CO2 over pure CO2. The Biogents Mosquitaire CO2 Mosquito Trap is amazing. In full disclosure I eventually purchased 3 of these units, after proving the first one worked so well. Why not 3X the killing power?! No fun having a nice heated saltwater pool & having mosquitos buzzing around you & your guests at night. I'm in South Florida, humid summer time year round basically. I highly suggest getting the CO2 version / attachment. It works some without it & the scent baits (which are expensive) but nothing compares to the CO2 version. I ran it for a month without the CO2 until I got around to buying one tank & seeing how much of a difference it really made. The answer... Mosquitos are highly attracted to this CO2 settup & not to my guests & I. I purchsed a "TMCRAFT 20lb CO2 Tank" on Amazon for $185. It costs me about $75 to fill it with CO2 at a local beer keg store. So far I'm past a month on on my first fill & still going strong. It's catching so good on the CO2 I don't think I need the $19 a month baits. So theoretically I'm putting that money towards the CO2 Fill cost. If you don't get the CO2 you should buy the baits (which smell like dirty socks) To make my tanks last a lot longer, I turn on the CO2 at dusk & then turn off in the morning. Mosquitos are far less active in the hot day time. Rainy overcast days I leave it on... They sell a CO2 timer for like $200 but I had to draw the line somewhere. I have a friend that gets bitten by mosquitoes instantly going outside no matter what. No one else in the group gets bit but her. It's truly laughable... Since I've installed this system she hasn't gotten bitten once which is a full blown miracle. Last note the location of where I have mine placed varies your catch rate so you may want to move it around & find the best kill spot in your yard. Also I never turn the power off so they are always vacuumed in. On occasion if you want to clean the bags easiest thing to do without releasing live ones by mistake. Close the flap against the vaccum running. Pull out the full catch assembly from the base & put the whole thing quickly into a plastic grocery store bag. Tie a knot & put the whole thing in the freezer for 3 hours. Then take out, dump all the dead mosquitoes into the plastic bag you were using. Tie that off put in garbage then put your catcher assembly back in base. I never write reviews but had to on this product & after wasting $600 trying the propane mosquito magnet fail. This is close to $600 after the CO2 tank purchase & fill but absolutely worth it!

Definitely a « mosquito only » trap
I’m in south Florida and I have this machine set up in my shed, my backyard is surrounded by vacant lots that turn into swamps when it rains and the amount of mosquitoes is insane. I have it on for 3 weeks 24/7 and it’s catching thousands of mosquitoes, I can’t believe what’s in the bag in a week of time. And most importantly no other bugs get in. I can’t say yet if it will make a difference outdoor because of my current environment but if you leave in a dryer area it will definitely reduce significantly the mosquitoes population. The CO2 tank is not cheap to buy but the refill is very affordable, around $40 for 20 lbs, it lasted me 20 days at 0.5 kg/day. The CO2 alone doesn’t smell anything, there is a slight noise from the vacuum but barely noticeable on the outside. Depending on the size of the tank you choose, it’s might not be easy to move it around. Just plug to the power, connect to the tank and that’s it! Simple and effective.

Bugging the pests
Works good, it definitely catches bugs, just wish they gave more of the scent pads for the price you pay! No batteries need , but comes with a pretty long cord.

BACKYARD SAVIOR
I absolutely love this dang thing. Coming from someone who has spent thousands of dollars in the past couple years.. nothing worked. I’ve used patio eggs, the stuff you hang in trees - multiple brands, different lawn sprays, professional grade insecticides, natural stuff like garlic concentrate w/ and w/o oil, zappers, patches, my own oil citronella concoction (lemon, eucalyptus too), candles, incense, thermacells… literally you name it, I’ve tried it. The only thing that’s ever worked is off botanic natural spray. But you have to respray every 2 hours and it’s honestly a hassle. I have to spray every time I just step out the door and my toddlers like a maniac. I’m the type of person who walks out for 5 minutes and has 10 bites. No kidding. I count every time because I just can’t believe it, after this many years lol. I know what you’re thinking, get rid of the breeding sites, remove leaves and blah blah. I. HAVE. I put the shit in the water to kill the larvae, I’ve made purposeful pots for breeding with the dunks. Anytime and every time of the day, we’re getting bit. And now these Asian tiger mosquitoes are out of control and my babies are getting bit even MORE. like I thought that was even possible at the point. Also we live in TX. Mosquitos are pretty much around all year round. I’m writing this end of September, still LOTS of mosquitoes. Anyway… After debating on getting toxic fumes installed to spray every few hours around my yard for thousands $$, I found this. I didn’t have that many high hopes.. I’ve had it for less than a week. But it’s been 2 days and I haven’t had one single bite while I’ve been in my backyard. The front, may be a different story but that’s ok. Another battle for another time. I read reviews that without the co2, it did nothing. But the first pic I posted, that’s JUST with the scent packet from 4pm to 10 am the next day. Not even 24 hours later. I was blown away. Did I still get bit? Definitely. But I knew this thing was working and it’d take time. The next pic is with the first night/morning with the co2 tank. HOLY shiitake mushrooms. I mean, I couldn’t believe it. Crazy!!! I check this thing every morning and evening bc I’m obsessed with killing these stupid demon life suckers. The last video is today, the I believe the 3rd morning with the tank. Bunch are dead at the bottom and still a good amount of live ones. I love this thing. 10/10 for what it does. Tried to upload all videos but said I could only do one. But there are cons: 1. There’s no wheels that come with lugging the tank around. It’s heavy and I have the 20 lb tank. 2. I feel like when I check the trap, 1 or 2 mosquitos fly out because the lid has a bit of a gap around it. But not 100% sure. 3. I bought the timer separately and while I think it’s worth it to save on co2, I think it was too expensive but had no choice since it was the only one on the market. And it doesn’t come with a battery. 4. You’re chained to only places with an outlet. Ideal places usually aren’t close enough where an outdoor outlet may be, unless you got a lot. I don’t, I only have one for the backyard. Overall, for what it’s done for me and how much it’s relieved my anxiety, and joy it’s brought me and my family to enjoy our backyard… 5 stars. 10/10. I can’t speak on longevity of anything, since I’ve had it for less than a week. But hopefully it doesn’t crash like other brands I’ve read about. So far, so great. Love it. Would there be small things I could change, sure! But for what it does, and my new found sanity, 100% worth it. Placement is definitely key as well. Shady areas where there’s bushes or a low tree would be ideal. If you’re anxious, like me with the co2 tank thing. I live in a big city. There’s many places we can go to refill. I bought a 20lb tank on Amazon and took it to a welding place (called prior to check pricing and if they did it), they refilled it for us and we were good! They didn’t swap it, just refilled which I was happy about. Total $$ I’d say I spent was.. $625 including the fill of co2. I was spending about $100-$150 a month on different mosquito stuff… so $60 every other month or so for scent packets and co2, SOLD. Hope this helps you. UPDATE: 9/26/22 We got bit up after no bites for 4 days. Had many mosquitos swarming us. No idea what happened. I thought maybe it’s the sweet scent packet, but it’s still potent and co2 was going off. I increase co2 output and still warmed with mosquitos at 6 pm. A little disappointed but will try another attractant. And will try incense closer to us to keep them away, but open to the trap. There are no available BG sweet scent anywhere I can find.

Review for the cO2 enhanced unit. Expensive, but absolutely works!
We live in the the San Fernando Valley in Southern California and mosquitos have been really bad for us this year (I feel like location is important for people who are considering). I got fed up and decided to bite the bullet on this expensive trap setup after a family member let me know it was working for them (in another part of SoCal). In short... it works. What you see here is the first time I've emptied the trap since I set it up back on 8/26. I carefully removed the net catch last night (MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THAT LID CLOSED! I taped it beforehand to prevent any accidents), placed it into a gallon zip lock bag, and then placed the bag into the freezer overnight. The instructions say 2-3 hours will kill them, but like the line in the movie ALIENS..."it's the only way to to be sure." The results were shocking to be honest. It's a mix of all types of mosquitos, including the nasty Aedes variety. There's a large property behind my house whose owner leaves a lot of stuff around. My gut is telling me they're creating a breeding ground for these things in all the nooks and crannies of their junk. PROS: - Effective. That's all I want a mosquito trap to be. - Easy setup - The supporting bait packet doesn't smell that bad... at least compared to a typical water based fly trap. CONS: - Expensive initial investment, but it seems like this will pay off easily over time based on what I've been able to catch in a fairly short amount of time. - You must buy a cO2 canister. A 20lb tank (with a fill) ran me about $190 locally. $33 for a refill. I haven't needed to refill yet, but I'm guessing I probably will in the next week or so. - I feel like the trap itself is a bit over priced. I think $175 to $199 would be more reasonable. My setup: 1) I have the cO2 trap and tank on a dolly that I cart around to different positions in the yard depending on the time of day/shade. Moving both individually is cumbersome with all the cables and tubing. A filled 20lb cO2 tank also weighs what feels like 50 pounds when filled – not convenient to move all the time. 2) I set the cO2 regulator to release 0.5kg to 1.25kg depending on conditions. I pump it up during the late balmy summer afternoons with still, hot/slightly humid air. On days with more wind, I'll cut the cO2 back or not use it at all. With wind, the cO2 is blown around and is not concentrated near the trap. I wasn't going to buy the timer they sell for the regulator in the beginning (it's $95!), but now that I know this works, I'm going pick it up so I can have the cO2 release at specific times of the day. TIPS: 1) Make sure you handle the included bait packet with gloves. It's oily and the smell of extremely dirty, sweaty gym stocks will linger. 2) Consider a mobile setup like what I did to make placement and adjustment more convenient. 3) Move the trap around. They love shade and I've placed it underneath a patio umbrella sometimes which I'm sure concentrates the cO2 a bit since there's now a 'ceiling' in that location. 4) When power down the trap, the lid automatically closes because there is no longer any suction keeping the trap open. HOWEVER, one time it didn't close and the mosquitos that weren't fully in the trap FLEW OUT. Easy insurance that you don't let these demons escape is to use some masking tape on the lid handle to secure it BEFORE you unplug.

I don't know what I expected
OK. I'm a somewhat handy man around the house. I do what I need to do to get pests under control. I have a yard and a garden and I like to take care of my family. I do many things myself because its cheaper and enriching to do things that way. I trust Amazon and reviews. The value for this product is highly questionable. I'm not sure there is a novel design here for the price. its a plastic tub with a 12v fan. and a mesh bag. I feel very bad. I feel like a bit of a fool for buying this. The majority of the product worth is in the regulator. I'm upset at myself for buying this so quickly and thinking it was something of more substance. I guess this is one of the only products on the market with this design that champions CO2 usage but really its just a trickle of gas that you can do for any enclosed space with a fan. I don't know what I expected. For the same price I could have bought many of the smaller products. Guys, I can probably put this together for less than 50$ over a Weekend. Is a mosquito trap's value subjective? You are paying for comfort that isn't guaranteed at a premium price point. It doesn't even look super good. Its just a brown tub. I will return this item. Please, other handy men and husbands hear my words of warning. I'm not sure if this is worth saving your time.
