My 8-yr-old boys scarfed the first set down, like it were some food. They started when they were 7 years old. The pacing of the story is just as exciting as the original Conan Doyle but the language is easier. My boys are able to follow the details of the case. I intend to introduce them to the unabridged versions as they get older. In the meantime, this will whet their appetites for Holmes. Great starter collection
This is my second to buy this set of Sherlock Holmes. My 8-yr-old boys scarfed the first set down, like it were some food. They started when they were 7 years old. The pacing of the story is just as exciting as the original Conan Doyle but the language is easier. My boys are able to follow the details of the case. Well adapted version for children
10 year old loved it. The print is a nice size and the chapters are fairly short so he liked the sense of progress. He struggles with reading after a bad start at school put him off but this has reignited his enjoyment. He likes being able to tell us the story and explain the mystery and motives
