It’s a great product. I was afraid of the shock level being too weak to be ignored by my big dog, or strong enough to the point that it would actually hurt him. I can absolutely say that this product is very effective and it’s not cruel at all. At the strongest level, it’s just a normal static shock like the ones you get from touching shopping carts at Costco during the Canadian winter. It doesn’t hurt at all (–I tested on myself first before testing it on my dog of course–), it’s just spooky enough to make your dog stay away from it and avoid it completely. I strongly recommend you ensuring your furry buddy is not overly afraid of it though. Use it intermittently, they will learn to stay away from it without fearing moving around your house.

I have two large grandddogs as well as some large boarding dogs that counter surf, so I decided to give this a try. I bought the 12 x 60" to cover a large countertop. My family members and I tested it on ourselves first. Ouch! It gives a sharp little zap with just a light touch of the pad. A small power box easily attaches to the side that can be set at various levels. The lowest level worked perfectly. It also emits a sound whenever touched which also worked as its own deterrent for these dogs without even needing to "zap" them. During this busy holiday season, I was able to set all of the food behind and around this matt without worry of it being "snatched". Four large dogs kept their distance this time. None of them even attempted to come near the counter. Hurray! Success!

This works. My dog would get up on the couch overnight, no matter how close her bed was or how many times she was told off. We bought a new lighter coloured couch and we had to do something more to stop her. I bought 2 mats to cover the whole couch but didn’t really need a 2nd one because she made ONE attempt and tried just once more the next night, and then never again. I love my girl and don’t want to hurt her, so we made sure we read the instructions properly and didn’t have it turned up high. I’d recommend these for quick results. She seems to have forgotten that the couch was ever an option.

Need to remember they’re on the floor as it’s not a pleasant feeling when stood on but sure keeps pets away from areas they’re not allowed

Bought this mat because I have a cat that will not stay off the counter. He will open the cupboard door pull things out of the cupboard that he wants. Even after he is fed. Every time we make a meal or go out and get warm-ups if it smells delicious he will be up on the counter about six times in an hour. We can’t catch him on the counter because he hears us move, and he immediately runs out of the room. He has Ben doing this for 6 years and it is just not stopping, can not even have a clean glass stove top because he has to walk all over it. Put this up the day we got it right away, he got on the counter five times the first night, twice the next morning, and two more times that afternoon. That was Friday to Saturday. It is now Tuesday night and he has not been on the counter since Saturday night. I love the settings, easy set up, I turned the beep tone off so that the cat doesn’t relate the beep to the shock. I’ll eventually spread it across the stove top too so he will learn to stay off of it. But for now it is so nice to have a clean and sanitized counter top all the time. And now that he is not getting up there I cleaned the counter top off more since the picture, we were having stuff at the front of the counter top off keep him off of it Love it highly recommend
