Amazing!!
Alright, so here's the deal. I normally don't write many reviews but I had to for this because of the few negative reviews that made me a bit hesitant to buy this product. If you want to skip all this mumbo jumbo just skip to the last little paragraph. I'm a broke college student with two dogs AND two cats. My place is a never ending mess. I clean one mess up and turn around to another one. My dogs spend a lot of their day rolling around outside in the dirt before coming inside to get it all over my furniture. The cats, well, they are just cats doing cat things. Even with constantly washing my dogs and vacuuming the dog hair off my couch, I began to notice a dark appearance where the dogs like to lay on the couch. I love them too much to kick them off the couch (this is their home just as much as it is mine) so I came to the conclusion that I needed a carpet cleaner. I didn't want to spend over a hundred dollars on a carpet cleaner so I was looking at smaller cleaners like this one. The reviews scared me. Leaks, the rubber rubbing off, arriving with water having sat in the machine and not to mention I couldn't find one review on how this thing handled against pet hair. I decided to take the chance. Prime shipping so I was very excited to see it at my gate two days later. It was packaged nicely and it was COMPLETELY dry. I put it to the test immediately. Like a few reviews said, the solution tank does leak a bit. No problem. I can clean up a few drips of cleaning solution. The recovery tank does not drip at all. I would have been a lot more upset having the dirty water tank leak. Initially, when I placed the solution tank onto the unit, water began to pour EVERYWHERE. I was disappointed. I felt like I had just wasted $80 but I wasn't ready to give up. The answer was simple. The bottom of the solution tank has a rubber ring on it meant to keep water from overflowing once you put it on the unit. I eased it off and turned it around. No more mess. It was too simple of a fix to even complain about. Overall, I am beyond happy with this machine. The solution tank leak is the only true issue that Hoover could work on but it's not enough of an issue to keep me from using this machine. I've had no bad experiences with the red rubber piece rubbing off on my furniture and I've been aggressive with it. The suction is wonderful and has yet to disappoint. My favorite part of this machine is its ability to keep up with all the hair from my double coated German Shepherd as well as the rest of my animals. The self cleaning is icing on this wonderful cake. Self clean, open everything up the dry and then it's ready to be put away. If the scary reviews make you hesitant, maybe this one will help a little. I was impressed by this little machine. Thanks Hoover!

Easy to use
This extractor works great. I used Meguiars carpet cleaner for my vehicle and cleaned up the carpets really good. It's very easy to use and the self cleaning port is a nice touch so the hose doesn't stay dirty.

Love/hate relationship
March 5, 2023 update Ok so, I agree with other reviewers that this is better than the Bissell. I've tried both. Having pets, this has been as lifesaver. Two words of warning, 1) vinegar erodes water and plastic. So if you are using this to clean, understand that it will eventually erode the plastic. 2) they remastered the dirty tank and have made it worse. The photo I've attached is on the old one, which I prefer. Cleaning either one is going to be my least favorite job ever. I can only hope they either change back to the old model or work on improving it. So if you have an old one you are replacing, keep the dirty tank because you will probably like it more than the new one because of the way it fits together, it is more cumbersome to take apart and put together Update June 16, 2022 I received a (nother) replacement on this unit from Hoover. Used it once, put it in my front closet, went to use it today and all of the dirty water had leaked out of the dirty water tank onto the floor. I hadn't noticed, but they redesigned the tank and now, guess what? It's worse! It's plastic with a crack in it. It's also harder to open and dump because of the redesign. You have to pull it off and unhook it - at least the last one had a rubber seal where you dumped it. They're going to replace the dirty water tank. Idk, maybe hire some women to design it, we're the ones using it and we know what works. Obviously from the other reviews, these are ongoing issues. I can't imagine making a less than adequate product and having to replace the entire unit and the parts that fail, is the recipe for a successful business. My hopes for this being a product that goes the distance, um no. I won't be buying a Hoover again, this has been a *colossal* failure. Update May 23, 2022 Ok so, I actually purchased a second unit less than 2 years ago. It has just gotten a hole in the plastic hose making the entire unit useless. Less than 2 years - that is the lifetime of this. Come on Hoover, surely you can do better than that. At the very least they need to make parts that can be switched out. They know the hoses eventually fail. ------------- Update: June 18 2020 So disappointing. I've had this for 2 years. The biggest issue with it is the dirty water tank leaks whenever you pull it out to dump it.... Hello... The worst possible situation! This makes me completely discount the Hoover name. ----- I have a multiple pet household and originally had the Bissell Little Green. Wanting something more substantial, and the LG leaked frequently from the bottom leaving puddles or sometimes draining the whole clean water tank, I upgraded to the Spot Clean Pro. Well that was great, more power, although a little heavier to carry and unfortunately it also has a flaw in that the plastic tubing cracks after anywhere from 9 months to 2 years leaving you with an expensive piece of junk. Apparently replacing the hose is not easy or hasn't been successful either. So I bought this thinking the Hoover name would surely be a hit. I was completely underwhelmed with the suction power of this thing. When a previous reviewer said it left cups of water in their carpet, I can definitely see why. Just a weak level of suction, especially compared to the Spot Clean pro. Everything else was ok, the parts fit together ok, the quality seems adequate for the price. The hose doesn't stay in the additional fittings that go along the bottom of the unit, so that's annoying. You want the stuff out of your carpet, upholstery, whatever, you NEED THE SUCTION! What is the answer, I'm not sure, but this was a big disappointment. I hope someone comes out with something better that combines quality with power.

Highly Recommend Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner
We used the BISSELL Little Green Machine before we discovered this powerhouse, and we will never go back! The machine itself is sturdy and appears to be made with quality materials. Out of the box, it took only minutes to assemble. Regarding its cleaning power, it does an excellent job cleaning a variety of different types of materials. Thus far, I have used it to clean both of our mattresses, our basement couch (which collects a lot of dog hair), the carpet on the stairs, and the interiors of both of our cars. The soap tank empties relatively quickly withs good water output, but it has great suction power and does not leave the cleaned surface wet. For the price, this product is well worth the purchase.

It cleans. It removes stains. It actually works!!!
I should’ve taken before/after but I was so skeptical and never used a cleaner/water/vacuum thing before I really didn’t know what to expect and was more concerned about my couch then pictures lol. But I went with the Hoover mainly cause we grew up using Hoover and their machines just always lasted a long time. Having no prior knowledge to using this. It was extremely simply to connect and start up. I had purchased Hoover stain removal detergent in addition. However it comes with a little complementary cleaner as well that will last u a couple uses anyways. I ignored the recommendation for how much liquid to use. Because I wanted my couch to be clean!!! I probably use half-1cup of cleaner. The only disclaimer it says using so much is it might be foamy but I never had any issues with that. Anyways the part ur going to skip to read anyways. Is here: My couch was filthy. Like it’s suede. It’s a used L shape brown couch that was never cleaned yet. It was purchased from a family whom also had kids. So u can use your imagination. I have a 3 yr old that was also in the middle of being potty trained and yes he had too many accidents on the couch. And I couldn’t take it which led me to Hoover. So 1. Despite what other comments have said. I had no issue dispensing the soap from the nozzle under the vacuum nozzle. It actually gives a nice generous amount which makes cleaning much faster. The sucking/scrubbing power was great. I could definitely see dirt being lifted. At first I thought it was just the brown color. But taking a closer look it was definitely dirt and funk. Anyways. I cleaned one giant couch every where in less then 30 mins. And when I tell u my couch looks brand new. Like it’s incredible. I seriously wish o took pics because ur jaw would be dropped too. I don’t even want to sit on it. And the way the vacuum cleans. It leaves the fabric a nice beautiful texture. Like it just smells looks clean. Not a single mark on that couch. Not a single stain. This is worth the investment. And it’s very light weight. Cleaning is easy. It is all detachable and simple rinsing care after each use will keep it in new condition. If ur thinking about purchasing I would give this one a green light. Tomarrow I’m going to clean my car with this. And I’m excited.

This was a spot cleaner I loved, and then the updated version somehow was even better!
I have three cats, and two of them barf quite a bit. Any cat owner knows... they will move to carpeting to barf, rather than barf on a hard surface. Why make it easier for their staff? That's not how cats work! Us puny humans exist to serve them, but they do not feel a need to make our jobs easy! But I digress. I originally bought this cleaner back in October of 2021. I loved it. I used it very frequently, and it did an amazing job on spot cleaning the carpeting - even on the white carpeting in basement. ...why would anyone put white carpeting in the basement?!? I don't know, but that's what was there when we bought the house! About a month ago, I noticed that the fill cap on the solution tank was cracked. This wasn't a huge problem, so long as you held the tank upright as you carried it. Once it was in the machine, there was no leakage. I did look to see if I could order a replacement part from Hoover. Much to my dismay, the $3 replacement part was out of stock (supply chain issues, I'm sure). I decided to take a stab in the dark, and I emailed their customer service department to see if they actually had an extra fill cap just laying around the warehouse. They did not have the part, but they offered to do a full warranty replacement! I went through those motions, and they sent me the replacement, which happened to be the updated model. Listen, I loved the one I originally bought, but somehow... they made it even better! They corrected few minor design flaws (some of which were mentioned on the original reviews I read): 1) The rubber on the original tool was red, and when I first started using it, it could leave a bit of pink behind on the white carpeting. After it was broken in, I stopped having the issue. But, on the upgraded model, they changed the rubber to a very light gray - problem solved! I didn't have to go through the same breaking in period! 2) The dirty water tank IS SO MUCH EASIER TO EMPTY AND CLEAN NOW! On the orginal version I purchased, cleaning the dirty tank properly involved quite a few steps, and could take more than just a little bit of time. You had to disassemble it pretty throughly, and use brushes to get in there and really clean it out. With this uprade, it takes a fraction of the time to clean the tank, and is super easy! It's just a release of a latch, you pour out the dirty water, you rinse it out in the sink, you put it back together! Bing, bang, boom, easy peasy! If you have a bunch of little anarchists (I mean, furry overlords!) living with you, this machine is a huge help in cleaning up their messes. It does a really excellent job. Hoover's customer service was amazing, and I think they really listened to the criticisms about the previous model, and they made some really great changes to a machine that I already loved - and somehow made it better!

End of 2021 and this machine is a joke! Instant Return. AVOID IT!
DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK MACHINE! Basically this unit is nearly useless and should be removed from where anyone can buy it. Despite reading many of the reviews here. I still wanted to give it a try and have a shampoo machine ready for those pet accidents and general spills that happen. After testing the unit right out the box with plain, room temp water. It seemed to do all the bad things you will read below from other buyers. Leaks, lousy design, poor suction and loud, (but all vacs are noisey and not a true negative). And the picture at the top of the page shows additional items that I did not receive. First off the pictures shows 2 different floor heads, 1 clear with red brush attached to the hose and machine and 1 foggy with gray/black brush under the solution bottle. I only received the foggy head with red brush. Where is the second head or even second brush?? Now as for others claiming leaks. YUP! it leaks out the dirty side pretty quickly as the dirty water side fills up. And yes the tank was perfectly seated in the spot it sits and latched. It is actually leaking near where the vacuum exhaust is and blows the dirty captured liquid across the floor where this unit is sitting. So, not only does it not hold ALL the dirty water, it will blow it across another section of floor. IMAGINE THAT?? You just cleaned up your dogs mess at spot (A) and some of it was blown across your floor to spots (B,C,D,etc). Now for the part you need to pay close attention to. And why you should not waste your time with this joke carpet cleaner. When the machine is on and suction is running. You can feel a mild suction in the head where you expect it and also everywhere along the handle and hose. THERE ARE NO SEALS for the hose and head. It CAN NOT concentrate suction to the the thin slit on the head. It is sucking air from every crack and joint from the unit along the hose to the head. And even worse the head is removable to get clogs out and there are no rubber/silicone seals to stop air/water leaks on the head. This is built to be cheap and sadly it is. Half the suction is lost to leaks and the suction you do get is not enough to suck any pet problem or stain out of carpet. I tested will plain water in my sink and it leaked everywhere and barely got all the water from a smooth steel sink. Without a tube of silicone caulk. This will never suck enough liquid from carpet to be anymore useful than towels and blotting. Others warned you with their reviews. I too have tried. I paid good money. Amazon drove this to my door. Hoover put their name on it. ALL these people wasted their time because this Spotless Carpet Cleaner is GARBAGE and based on what I hear happens to returns. I am saddened by the likelihood I have added more to the problem with this bad product. Its only use is to be a landfill filler. STOP MAKING THIS PRODUCT HOOVER! DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK MACHINE!

ALMOsT perfect
Oh what a joy it is to need to clean carpets, with rainy season, teenagers, a puppy and cream colored rugs... My stairs were the complaint of my house, but then we got a puppy. So here it goes. First of all, this thing is super easy to use, good cord length, very self explanatory, add water to one tank, plus cleaning solution, attach head and you're off and cleaning. I will truthfully say, I didn't expect what this little power house did. My bar was set relatively low but I needed to try it. I filled the tank and when the tank was empty, the dirty water tank WAS dirty, yay, but what impressed me was the fact that the dirty water tank was nearly as full as the clean water tank was when I started. Not exact of course but close! This tells me that my rugs will dry quickly and that the suction on this is excellent. I used it with the Hoover restore carpet cleaner, although it did come with sample bottles, I didn't know and I had ordered the shampoo. Every single spot is gone. Every single spot! I have so much more to tell you. Ok so the little suction head thingy has these rubbery silicone material teeth below the sucky area so when you're moving the head it actually lifts the pile and makes your rug all fluffy. I knew from the description that the hose was self cleaning but man that's just cool. So it's time to clean up, I go to the sink, open up the bottom of the dirty tank, which I could have just opened the little easy empty tab but, well, I wanted to see how well I could clean it up. I want it to last. Every single part was cleanable! I mean every part, so I take of the bottom of the dirty tank, rinse those parts and pieces, disconnect the sucky head, run how water through that, when I see the tab, even THAT opens more to fully rinse it out, then I push the hose (without the head) into the self cleaning part, hit the power button and I see the remaining clean water rush through the hose and into the dirty tank. So I rinsed the tank again. Next time I'll do that step before I empty the dirty tank. Nice, neat, tidy and compact so it fit right on the shelf in my garage. But I do have one tiny kind of complaint. When pressing the trigger to spray out the cleaning solution, it doesn't totally just stop spraying when I let go of the trigger so I had to press the other side to stop it. If you don't love holding down the trigger, this could be a cool feature for you, but for me, I press when I want it to spray and let go when I don't. Its almost like an on/off switch, on to spray, but I had to press the "off" side to stop. Overall very very happy. It removed way more water from the rug than my big full sized machine. I'm a fan. Hope this helps.
