I am a African American woman with thick, coarse, medium length hair, and I am used to buying the the heated brushes, with bristles, but the last one I brought, which I have had for about 3 years, started to really disappoint me when the "teeth" started breaking off. I didn't really look at this one well before purchasing it, but I am glad that I didn't, or I might have changed my mind. This "brush" works great!!! I washed my hair and waited until it was completely dry, and I was done straightening my hair in 30 minutes, and my hair is straight and very soft, with very little breakage. As others have noted, it does not work well with short hair, (back of my head) but I was able to get it done with a little finessing.
