Hello,
Manual of watch receiver APE6800:
Number register
1）Standby mode, keep pressing key FUN, until ‘register’ shows on the screen.
2）Keep pressing FUN until the number 001/0001/00001/001-01/0001-01/00001-01 appears (the default is 001), press ENT and DOWN to change the blinked number, press FUN to move the cursor to choose the position of numbers (each position can set from 0-9, A-Z).
3) After getting the number wanted, press down the call button, the receiver buzzes with the registered number flashing on the screen, the registration is finished.
4）To register more than one buttons, please repeat the step 3).
5）After finishing the all numbers, keep press  FUN till ‘register’ shows on screen.
6）Keep pressing  ENT till back to standby mode. The registration is done.
※Special instructions:
Can register 399 numbers at most
During the registration, the number does not blink or receiver not buzz that means the number is not registered successfully, then you can judge the problems according to the digits behind the calling number:
1- Means this number is not registered, but this button is registered to another number.
2- Means this number has been registered by the other button, but not this one.
3- Means the button and number are both registered.
4- Means the number capacity has got the limitation of 399.
No digit means the receiver did not get the calling signal.

Is the entire black surface a button or just the small round in the middle?

APE310 is a one-button pager, only the small round one with 'SERVICE' can be pressed, not the entire surface.

How do I open it without wasting the adhesive on back?

If you already have pasted it on the table, you can rotate the this item anticlockwise directly, then can remove the base and open it. If you have not use the adhesive, turn back of this item, you can  rotate the adhesive part anticlockwise, then can open it.
