Trudeau Melamine Mixing Bowls, Set of 3

Originally purchased in June 2011 and I procrastinated writing a review until March 2019 so this is a “how’d it hold up?” review. Some things to keep in mind: 1) About 4 out of the 8 years I’ve had them, I didn’t have a dishwasher so I cleaned them by hand. 2) I like to bake but don’t always have room in tiny apartment kitchens; my dishes often fall on the ground or roll around on the counter when I knock them over. 3) I’ve used a variety of mixing bowls and have enjoyed most of them for different reasons: wood, metal, ceramic, glass, plastic. I originally got this set thinking they looked nice but I doubted they’d last more than a couple years, if that. Surprisingly after almost 8 years, the largest and smallest ones are still around. Both still hold their vibrant colors, the rubber bottom that stabilizes them are clean, smooth, and functional, and I still use them regularly (about 1-3x’s per week) to make mostly cookie, pie, and muffin mix. I’ve dropped all of them on tile, terrazzo, and laminate floors at least a couple times a year. Unfortunately, one of the times the middle size bowl was brimming with cookie dough, I dropped it on its side onto the tile kitchen and it cracked in half. That was my fault, I over filled it with something really heavy AND dropped it on the plastic portion. If it had contacted the ground with the rubber bottom, I doubt it would have broken. I think it lasted about 6 years.

These bowls are great, especially for the price. I use them constantly, wash them in the dishwasher constantly, and they have held up fantastically and look as new as the day I got them. The non-slip grips at the bottom are great and keep your bowls from scooting around while you're trying to whip, mix etc. The handle and pour spout are so handy and makes everything so much easier and more efficient. Why pay more for a set of similar bowls when you can just get these? I used to have a similar set from Crate & Barrel that was around $50, but I lost them in a break-up and didn't want to shell out another $50 if I didn't have to. I'm glad I chose these and I've recommended them to friends and family. I also ordered a set as a Xmas gift for my sister who is a baker and she loves them too.

As other reviewers have said, the bright, cheery colors of these bowls really liven up my kitchen. Everything else in my small apartment is black and white and gray, and these bowls have given it a much needed jolt of color. I've been mixing a lot of pancake batter in these, just because the blazing colors cheer me up. Kinda lame, I'll admit, but there it is. Since my kitchen is small, I love that they stack together. The pour spouts are a great help, and they are suprisingly sturdy, and the rubber on the bases really works to keep them steady. I do wish they had lids, but they don't and don't advertise that they do so I can't really dock them points for that. They are really nifty, and I would buy more if they came in more colors.

Melamine bowls like these are very easy to clean even oily food out of. Would not recommend a dishwasher unless you use the top shelf. They’re a little thin, so they won’t take too much abuse, and they will crack if subjected to rough treatment. They hold up to an electric mixer though.

These are terrific melamine mixing bowls! This is the second set I've bought-mainly because I was careless and let the red one fall. Yes, these will break if they fall, but only into several pieces making it easy to clean up! I eat big salads and always use the red bowl for it- I just had to have another set! There is a nice rubber grip on the bottom of each of these bowls making them adhere well to a counter top surface. The bowls can be washed by hand or by top rack of dishwasher, but..do not microwave. I find myself using these bowls constantly for either baking/mixing or other. All in all, I am happy to have acquired several more of these bowls! A terrific find and reasonable price

I absolutely love this set of bowls! They are very sturdy and you can use them for practically anything. The best attributes are the lipped-handle, pouring spout and no stick/no slide surface on the bottom! They wash extremely well on the top rack of the dishwasher! We use the largest bowl for popcorn and other snacks. So whether you use it as a mixing bowl or to water plants, the three sizes are perfect. I'm delightfully surprised at how much I use them! Great product - great buy!

I've had these bowls for only a few months. They are beautifully colored and very nicely sized. I like the appealing colors because for a very casual get-together, they can good-looking enough that I feel comfortable putting them out with fruit for guests. I've used these also for baking and cooking prep and they have worked quite well and are easy to clean. So why the poor star review? Well, they seem very fragile. I was washing the green one in the sink the other day and dropped a mug on it while washing. The bottom of the mixing bowl shattered and several (very sharp) pieces were in the sink. Now I'm out one of the bowls already and I've only had this for a few months.

This set is very practical, fairly priced, and attractive to boot. The rubber rings on the bottoms of these bowls create a good hold between the bowls and the countertop--you can direct more energy to mixing and less on holding the bowl in place. The convenient handles add to this effect. Each is lightweight, which makes accessing them from very high or low cabinets pretty painless. The walls of these bowls are high and smooth, which makes mixing around the edges a breeze. Finally, they're simply bright and visually pleasing, which makes them fun to use.

Just received this product recently and am very impressed. The bowls are sturdy and dishwasher safe. The colours are bright and fit into each for easy storage. I would highly recommend these bowls if you are looking for something to assist you with baking or mixing various ingredients. The rubber ring on the bottom of the bowl keeps them steady on the counter and the handle grip is useful. A must for your kitchen.

When due will buy again

Bright and colourful. Would love it without the little one and another larger one (slightly bigger than the red one). UPDATE - the bottom just fell out of one of them in May 2021, so it lasted 18 months. We got a decade from the set before these, so docking it by a star. UPDATE - another came apart whilst mixing a cake today (March 2022), so less than 2 1/2 years.
