Homewerks VGV-1LH-B4B Premium Gas Ball Valve, Female Thread x Female Thread, Brass, 3/4-Inch

Competitively priced with local hardware stores that were out of stock. This 3/4" valve won't restrict natural gas flow to my 1/2" generator inlet. The handle design has enough leverage to easily operate the valve without projecting too far. My application is for a standby generator with a quick connection fitting, so the valve is normally off with the handle 90⁰ to the gas pipe. I didn't want a long valve handle that might accidentally get bumped. I could install a lock-out, but I don't think anyone will mess with it.

Good quality worked as expected

This is a high quality 3/4-inch gas ball valve, but the port size is only 9/16-inch diameter, which is equivalent to 0.249 square inches in area. The inside diameter of 3/4-inch Schedule 40 pipe is 0.824-inch => 0.533 square inches in area. Thus, this valve's small port size is less than half of the area of the connecting pipe. I suspect the other sizes of this gas ball valve have similar small port sizes. I would recommend that a gas ball valve one size larger than the required pipe size be used to avoid excessive pressure drop and high velocity gas flow through the port.

The handle casting and the flats on the valve stem do not mate perfectly, seems I will be adding thread locker to compensate.
