I love this clock; simple with no frills. I've had mine for several years and I recently bought one for my 80 year old mother. My clock is the soft surface one, and no, it cannot be cleaned! It gets dusty and gummy. The clock for my mom was a smooth metal-like surface which should be easier to clean; if I buy another one, it will be the smooth surface one.
