The Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) is exactly as I hoped for. A large opening on the bottom to fill with an Octo, and a one-way valve in the bottom section doesn't let the air back out, so it will remain inflated at the surface and not lose air if it tips over. Valve to manually inflate by mouth or BCD hose works well. Press in, and inflate by mouth, let go and it springs back and stops air flow, locking it in. Dump valve works, though I haven't tested as a pressure relief yet. I intend to use soon in Hawaii and if I experience any issues, I will revise this review. So far, very pleased with this product and would purchase again. Review: Works well; holds air; tricky to get water out - I used this DSMB on a Caribbean dive trip, for eight dives. Works well and very easy and fast to inflate from octo. Could also be inflated from a LP inflator hose or by mouth. The addition of the relief valve does add bulk when rolled, but make deflating easy. Due to the design of the bottom, it does trap any water that gets inside, but the relief valve can be removed to drain it. The spool and line seem good quality, and the bolt snap is great but a little smaller than I'd prefer (but sized right for the spool). Get the green cord color. *by N***L on November 2, 2025* The reel is pretty good overall, cord is good and the swivel snap is adequate. The SMB is average at best. I bought the package because I needed a good finger reel, so I rate that part highly.
