A Lot of Bang for the Buck
Wow! I am so glad I bought this. After reading reviews on all of the other "laptops" for children, I decided on this one after thorough research. Most complaints with other parents on the other laptops was about the LCD screen being so small, while the screen on this is perfect for its size and intent. I did not have trouble seeing anything. So it doesn't light up, I'm thankful, that's one less battery to replace. The other complaint I read about the others is that they were loud. This one is not. My children playing with their toys doesn't disturb me though. If they are learning & interacting with the toy, I'm happy. Another fun feature on this paticular "laptop" is that it has a working mouse. You can click to enter & move it slightly left or right or up & down (it is attached to the pad) to get to another activity or participate in one of the thirty plus fun games that offer pre-K learning & Kindergarten learing...find the shape that is bigger, etc... And yes I played with it to make sure everything worked correctly & to see what & how it would be teaching my children. It does teach & it has been fun for mine. It is a sturdy laptop with more bang for the buck than the rest of the other "laptops with many complaints" out there. You will be glad you purchased this for your little one. I have NO COMPLAINTS with this product. I also get involved with my children as much as I can to show them how learning can be fun. This purchase has been a smart one! Thank you Amazon!!! Go VTech !!!!

Great "laptop"!
I bought this for my 1 1/2 year old because she constantly tries to "use" mine. She is still too young to understand any of the activities, but she enjoys playing with it nonetheless. Plus, she is getting learning a bit more every day, and I believe she will be playing the most basic games before she turns two. My 3 year old nephew loves it, and I am buying another one as a birthday gift for my 10 year old special-needs nephew. He loves electronic toys, but has a lot of trouble with the fine motor skills needed to use most of them. Many of the activities on this toy only require pushing the right button or single mouse clicks, which he can do. Also, the e-voice sounds like a real voice, not one of those terrible tinny things that will drive anyone nuts. My only problem with this toy is the volume control. It is right on the front and has been made to be fun for the child to use. It is a chattering monkey that gets louder or softer as you change the setting. The desired volume level is selected by one mouse click. Worst part is that my daughter can make the monkey get louder and louder, but she does not know how to click the mouse. End result - she walks away from a very loud chattering monkey that just keeps going until I walk over and click the mouse or turn it off.

Best portable learning device for a preschooler 😀
Vtech products are always liked by us. These are less expensive than other brands but same in utility as other famous brands like Fisher Price. We had a teach and touch turtle book by Vtech from which my toddler learned a lot. She likes my laptop a lot and always wants to work on it. So we decided to give her own laptop which will be completely her own and a good learning device also. No doubt we chose Vtech Preschool Learning Tote and Go Laptop. We chose the 2010 version as the newer version VTech - Tote & Go Laptop with Web Connect is a bit costlier than with with small differences. The best features of this laptop as a great learning device are -- 1) It has 4 sections in button form to teach a preschooler a) Letters b) Numbers c) Logic and d) Games Letters - It has 8 sections like 1. Forest Phonics 2. Letter Fishing 3. Missing Letters 4. Alphabetical balloons etc. Numbers - It has 8 sections like 1. Number Switch 2.Counting Shapes 3.Add It up 4.Number Order etc. Logic - It has 7 sections like 1. Odd One Out 2.Park Pick Up 3. Three of a kind etc Game - It has 7 sections like 1. Clean Sweep 2. Fix It 3.Forest Fitness etc. To play You have to select each section and scroll up or down or left or right according to choosing the subsection you want to play. When you correctly score a squirrel on the screen cheers and when not correct it asks to try again. The mouse is a great addition . It can be detached and placed under laptop in place when not in use. The mouse and the keyboard works in s smooth way that a preschooler will have no problem handling that. The on/off button also works fine. When inactive for a long time the laptop automatically switches off. The screen of the laptop is a bit small which if being a bit larger would have been better. Another complaint I have with this laptop is it consumes a lots of battery. It takes 3 AA batteries.Within a few days I have to change two batteries. For this reason only I am giving it 4 stars. It's a easy tote and go laptop. My toddler carries it while traveling in car also and she really enjoys working on it. She is so happy to have a laptop of her own. She also learned a lot from this great learning device. The laptop is also beautifully colored which is bonus point for it. The main thing is we like this laptop a lot and it's a great hit for our preschooler.

Great Choice
I gave this computer to my 4 year old grandson for his birthday. My daughter left it for last for him to open at his party, because she said he would not want anything else once he saw that. She was right. The Tote 'N Go Laptop became the most desired toy at the party. His 3 yr old sister, and cousin, jumped right too. It did not take them very long to figure out how to use it, and in no time they were "teaching" each other how it worked. My daughter was relieved, because she could get back to using her own computer, instead of having to give it over to my grandson to play his games. The graphics are very simple, and no colors, but that didn't seem to make a difference to the kids. It is very sturdy as well. It gets carried around and knocked around a great deal, but keeps working. The kids love the attachable mouse, and found out how to work it immediately. It helps them with their small motor skills, and hand-to-eye coordination. The price was good, and I bought another one for my 3 year old niece for her birthday a month later. A very good choice for small kids in today's world.

Best Learning Toy on the Market
This is an absolutely fabulous product. An "Oh So Cute" - "Happy Monkey" (as my Granddaughter calls him) encourages learning through rewards and verbal prompts. My Granddaugter just turned 2 and has already mastered two of the levels. There are 30 activities and the difficulty increases with each level. This toy will grow as her cognitive abilities develop further. I am EXTREMELY impressed with the fact that she does NOT need any encouragment or prompting to sit and play with her VTech Computer. The mouse is a REAL bonus - Not exactly like a "real computer" but it has enough functionability to satisfy a pre-school child. Some reviews I have read mention that the Black and White Screen is a drawback - However, this is a moot point - The Black and White Screen is NOT a Drawback and therefore a Color Screen is really NOT necessary. I cannot say enough about this toy - in fact, if anything were to happen to her VTech Computer I would replace it in less than a "heart beat"! This is the BEST learning toy I have found!

Nephew's Birthday present
I'm not sure why anyone is giving this toy low ratings. It is a very good value and I agree with many of the other posters, you can buy a more realistic looking kids' laptop but this one is the way to go. It's durable, it has alot of function and frankly I think little kids prefer the bright colors. When my nephew goes to his Grandma's house, this is usually the first thing he runs to and he is one of those diecast car loving boys! He's not quite old enough to get the full educational value out of it (read this as this toy still has room to grow with his development), but he does like to play with it and discover new functions, and even when he gets bored he just brings it to someone to put it in music mode and sits around composing songs. At $30 or $40 this toy would be a nice deal, at Amazon's $19.99 it's a can't miss.

Good for 3+
This is a neat, well made, durable kids computer. I wanted a computer that my 2-2.5 yr old could mess around with while I'm on the computer...she will for a little while, but she's too young to understand how the mouse, game options, etc work. She's more interested in turing the volume up and down, hitting buttons, and moving the mouse. I'm not sorry I bought it b/c she does ask for it when I get on the computer, but she's too young to really use it. The letters are listed in ABC order - I understand why, but part of me wishes they were laid out like a real computer since this isn't for 'babies'...help them learn skills they will use later. The volume is a little loud and annoying, but if you can sneek your hand in to turn it down a little, it's not worse than most toys...future manufacturer improvement would be to adjust the volume so it gets very quite and won't get too loud. I like the handle and how the mouse nests under the toy.

A fun and educational toy for young children!
I bought the VTech Tote & Go Laptop as a Christmas present. I did try it out before wraping it and I believe it will not only be fun for my great nephew, but I believe this toy will be very educational also. I know from past experince that the more fun some one has learning the more they will learn. The laptop also looks very real and works like a real laptop and I believe this will help give a child the extra edge learning how to use a computer at an early age. All around I believe that the Vtech Tote and Go Laptop is a very good educational tool that a child will love to use to learn with and to be more like mommy and daddy at the same time. I would recomend this item to anyone who has a young child. VTech Preschool Learning Tote and Go Laptop [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging ]
