I can't seem to figure out how these work based on the picture. Does it only have 1 side that clips? If so, how do you clip the duvet to the cover?

The clip part is under the padded side. I take a corner of the comforter, shake the stuffing away, and then take a corner of the duvet cover and push it inside the cover. Then I hold the inverted cover together with the corner of the comforter and clip them together. That way the clip is inside the cover.

yes, you flip the duvet inside out and lay the comforter flat on it clip the corners, then flip the duvet back to the correct position.

Why would you wash them in a machine? They are metal with foam around them. Just take them off.
