I love this lip balm. It feels so soothing on the lips. The tube is such quality as well. Unlike other balms, that just “sit” on the lips. I can tell and see this actively works to heal my lips, soften them, and even plump them while I use it. I do wish they made a version with spf to use in the warmer months though. I can’t recommend this enough, it’s worth the price, try it once and you’ll see!

If you live in the midwest, you will understand when I say lip balms are an essential part of life- especially winter-life. I may not need them when I’m in California, but I do in Illinois where my lips tend to be consistently dry. So, needless to say, I am always on the hunt for a better lip treatment/balm and I figured why not try an expensive, but well-liked brand— AB. So, I used this lip balm for 2 weeks straight, and intermittently for 4 weeks thereafter. Although it feels wonderful when on, I would not say my lips have improved overall. Now, several factors could contribute to that, so I can’t blame the lip balm per se, but my lips have improved with other lip balms and thus, I cannot give it a 5/5. That said, there are things that I love about it: - TEXTURE: As I mentioned earlier, the overall feel of it on my lips—its consistency—no joke, is out of this world. It puts all others to shame. It almost feels like I’ve coated my lips in a super smooth butter. It’s oily, but not tacky. It feels soft. It feels…amazing. If you are someone who likes rubbing your lips together, you are going to be obsessed. - BARRIER/LONGEVITY: I also find it to be protective; it forms a barrier over your lips preventing moisture loss. And although it doesn’t last through eating, it does have good longevity otherwise. For example, if I put it on before bed, it is still there when I wake up. - CONTAINER: The container is a copper colored metal (Post-consumer resin aluminum) outcasing with a blue inner part, and it is great quality. The lid stays on, and it is so much nicer than other lip balms that have plastic tubes. - INGREDIENTS: This balm is packed with great ingredients from shea butter and various oils, to aloe, calendula, vitamin E, Arginine, Glycine, Lysine and many more. I’ve included the full ingredient list at the bottom. - FRAGRANCE FREE: I used to love scented lip products, and I still love when they have a flavor to them, but I’ve found that scents can also be drying, and since my reason for using this balm is to hydrate, not dehydrate my lips, I appreciate that it is unscented. - LOOK: This balm makes your lips look hydrated and leaves colorless sheen without it being glossy. - USE: You can use this alone or under other products. At night I wear this alone, but during the day I will sometimes wear it under colored lip products. So, for all of the above reasons, I continue to wear this balm, and the only reason I am giving it a 4 rather than a 5, is because it hasn’t improved my lips as much as some other products. You’ll never have chapped lips again. Yep, it’s that good, Therefore; price is not an issue. I apply once in the morning and once before bed and my lips stay moisturized 24/7. The price seems outrageous but once you try it, you’ll throw out all other lip moisturizers. Love it!

I was disappointed in this product. It’s nothing special and I don’t understand the high price. I regret this purchase. Too much money and the quality doesn’t justify it.

Best lip balm money can buy

I love that Augustinus Bader is a high-end brand, and all their products are truly high quality. This one, The Lip Balm, is no exception. It's a rich, hydrating formula that keeps your lips soft and shiny throughout the day. It's not one of those balms that is gone in 10 minutes and then makes your lips drier than they were to begin with. This one sticks around, and keeps you soft and smooth for a really good amount of time. The price is... in line with other designer brands, but still ouch. It's a really good balm and if you've got the dough to spare, by all means, try it. If you're a normal person like me you should maybe just buy $45 of Chap Sticks and be set for a couple of years.

Beautiful lip balm, no aftertaste and works well but there is no way it is worth that price.
