Excellent Best Practices for the Realtor with a Conscience
At 41 years old, I contemplated making huge changes in my life. I'd always been interested in the real estate industry, but never seemed to find like minded individuals who put their conscience before making a quick buck. As a business owner for over 12 years, I wanted to apply those best practices that I'd used to grow my customer base in my previous business to a new career in real estate.Fortunately, I came across The Honest Real Estate Agent by Mario Jannatpour. After just a few chapters, I knew that my path as a Realtor with principles was not only possible, but a proven and successful approach to working as a Realtor. Mr. Jannatpour not only raises thought provoking questions, but he shows how the old adage of treating others as you would like to be treated is not only the right thing to do, but just plain good old business sense in the long run. His advice is backed up by real world examples and interviews with real people about what they expect in a Realtor. The Honest Real Estate Agent is clear in presenting the ups and downs of the real estate industry and doesn't attempt to hoodwink the newbie into thinking that working in the industry is a piece of cake. This is as objective as an approach that you will find; for some (like me) it will confirm the career choice that they've made, and for others, it will be a wake up call alerting them that the real estate industry is not for them.Mario Jannatpour entered the real estate industry at the age of 40 after a major career and life change. This thoughtful, honest and objective book is not only a great read, but shows that a career change is not only possible, but can be profitable and fulfilling for those who approach their business realistically and with the best intentions. Highly recommended by this Mom of three who still believes in practicing those values that I teach my kids in everyday life and business.

This was the first book I read as a Realtor and I'm glad I did!
This was the first book I read on my realtor journey. I'm so glad someone recommended it to me and I've shared it with many others. Great book that defines those first steps you must take. It gave me definition when I didn't know what to do next. The book is very clear and filled with practical steps that walk you through the beginning stages of your new business. This book should be what they use at the school to get your licence. Quit making people learn stuff that has NO practical relationship to this business. No wonder why so many people fail at this.

The must read for every real estate agent who is just starting out.
This book is must read for every real estate agent who is just starting out or still considering the real estate as a career. I enjoyed reading this book.it's an easy read and it's not sugar coated. Mr. Jannatpour did really a good job on talking about what is expected from the real estate agent as far as honesty, expertise, guidance, market knowledge, ethical conduct, continuing education and especially looking after the client's best interest. Mr. Jannatpour talks from experience and offers his sincere and honest opinion about what it takes to be successful in the real estate business. His recipe for success is very basic and simple:Treat your clients right and you'll have a lot of repeat business and referrals from past clients, friends and family. I believe his approach in the book is very natural and logical.Reading this book is like listening to your older brother giving you an honest advice on how to succeed in the business. Also check out Mr. Mario Jannatpour's YouTube videos. He's awesome.

A good coaching book
I guess I was hoping for a little more actual real estate advice, and less of a coaching book. Wasn't that helpful to me, however for a person who has never had sales or business experience, it's more of a guide about working for yourself than practical know how for the real estate industry.

Great book for New RE Agents
This is an Excellent work by an Obviously very experienced person in his field. Many of the points he makes carry over to many other business's from the customer service and 'sales' side. I highly recommend this book to anyone thinking about getting into the RE business. I purchase this book and a couple of others specifically for this reason. It helped me to avoid some missteps I would have taken if I had not had this information before hand. I have to say that Real Estate can be a bit of a mine field to get into and there are lots of sharks and wolves out there ready to feed on you if you don't come in armed with some kind of knowledge before hand. Mario definitely loads your guns with the ammunition you need to defend your piece of Real Estate Sales Turf.

Honest Opinions from a Good Realtor
Mario's book and his ideas are very timely. Over the last few years (basically, the peak of the bubble), it appeared that this type of Realtor disappeared. Now Mario's opinions are proving to be true as the honest ones are the ones that are surviving. As a 30 year veteran of working with the real estate industry, I can tell you the best type of Realtor to work with. The honest ones, who look out more for their clients than they do their commission.Mario's book is good, easy read, that would help a new entrant to Real Estate Sales immensly. I do recommend it!

Very basic
If you know absolutely nothing about being an agent, maybe this is the book for you. But if you are looking for a detailed action plan, find a different book. It's very high level and lots of filler.

A good start!
Feels like a good start for someone like myself who is considering a career in real estate. A lot of my concerns were addressed in this book and now I feel confident that I can be successful as a real estate agent while also avoiding sales tactics that I'm not comfortable with.
