Review: Just WOW! - Great set of rollers! I ordered these on advise of a friend..Wowza! I’ve never rolled my hair before, but I got a lot of curls and volume, much better than a curling iron. My hair is mid length and naturally wavy. I’ve struggled styling it since it grew out from a shorter style. Once I get faster at rolling it, I’ll prob do it at a much higher frequency. The roller really create a lot of volume. The smaller rollers give more curl, while the larger ones give more volume. They are a game changer! The container is small and compact. Will be easy to travel with. Probably took about10-15 minutes to heat up. I’d strongly recommend if you want bouncy curls and generous volume. Enjoy!
Review: Excellent no-frills rollers - Pros: --This set has 3 sizes of rollers, which makes it very versatile, an excellent adjunct to another set - and also a good starter set for those new to hot rollers. --The rollers are hollow and get hot by being placed on heated metal rods which stick up from the base. It's simple and straightforward. (Many roller sets need to be aligned and pushed in place so the elements can make their necessary contacts. If you don't get them in correctly, the rollers don't get hot - not an issue with this set.) --These rollers get hotter as they sit on the base. Once your find your groove, know how hot you need your rollers to be, you can use this to your advantage by unplugging the unit when they reach your desired temp. (Though you'll have to do this by time/feel - there are no indicators on the rollers. If you leave them too long, they may feel too hot.) --I like that these have a hard plastic finish, (not flocked or velvety), and that they have little spiky nodes. The barrels are continuous, (no wedge cut-outs) and very light-weight. --The set comes with pins to secure them in place. Once you get the hang of the pins, they're easy to use and require less storage space than clips. (This is a good thing for me. Some folks prefer the clips.) The only bad thing about these pins is that it's easy to get them mixed up - while they are marked in different colors to indicate the size roller for which they are intended, those colors aren't distinct enough. **Q: Why do companies waste so much space with so many small rollers?  I prefer more large.  Does anyone really use these?  Just curious.**
A: You can order more medium, small or large rollers if you want. If you look on the insert/instruction booklet that comes with the original set, you will see that you can order parts. I ordered 6 more medium curlers because I don't use the large either so now myConair set has 12 medium and 8 small curlers which is perfect for me.

**Q: Are the rods the rollers sit on metal or plastic? I can't tell by the picture.**
A: Has anyone seen a STEAM hot roller system, which uses hard, thick plastic rollers on a vented platform above bath of boiling water?  The steam from the boiling water rises to the rollers which one then rolls into one's hair and secures firmly with a clip.  By the time the last roller is secured the first one is almost ready to be taken off.  The rollers have special ends so they can be handled even with the steamy hot,or one can use gloves.   The steam energy is released into the hair as it curls and the set lasts a very very  long time.  I had one many years ago and it took me less than 15minures to tame my very coarse, thick, curly hair into smooth manageability.  I briefly used a hot air brush ( https://www.amazon.com/Salon-Hot-Air-Brush-3-4/dp/B000GZD1JG  -- this product has plastic spines which don't deform at high heat,and I used the 11/2" wide brush) afterwards to create a style that lasted all day.  
I'd be willing to pay a LOT if I could find this perfect system again.

**Q: I cannot get these to grasp my hair. Anyone else have trouble with really silky soft hair being unable to roll?**
A: I use just regular hair spray on the end of each section when rolling with hot rollers. I spray, run a comb through the hair and roll. It helps to hold the hair on the roller to get started AND HELPS THE CURL TO stay in the hair. ( works like a hair styling gel. Anyone remember DippityDoo?) I have been doing this for 40+ years. Your comb will collect dried hair spay and need to be washed often. Liquid soap or shampoo and a soak in a basin of warm water will help to release it. An OLD TOOTH brush does a complete job of cleaning The comb.

These hot rollers are well-made, heat up quickly, and are very easy to use. I appreciated how evenly they warmed and how secure the clips felt while holding them in place. The set also has a nice variety of roller sizes, which gives you some flexibility when styling. That said, while the product worked exactly as described, the end result just wasn’t my personal favorite for my hair type. The curls held, but the finish wasn’t quite the look I was going for. Someone with a different texture or length may get results they love, so it really comes down to personal preference. Overall, I think this is a reliable and well-built tool that does what it promises — it just may not give the exact style everyone wants depending on their hair.
